But yeah good article, more than the plane itself - the article speaks volumes of the possible upgrades that spring its lethal power to no end.

And there are some ppl comparing JF-17 to MKI

I see BR is popular among peeps here as well !
But in all honesty, ausairpower defines what the potential could be and what is relative to others. For data, i'd recommend vayuaerospace or something like that. well just google vayu and Su-30MKI and you will get the website.

Self illusion is the greatest trait of the human race.

But in all fairness to them, thats all they have got to praise. If JF-17 was even comparable why would China order Su 30 MKK.

MKI is a beast, and with all the updated avionics it is a MONSTER not to mention it superiority after we get the AWACS.

Interestly, SU 30 airframe in general hasnt seen any live combats or dogfights with the western figthers. I am sure it will give anything below F-22 Raptor a run for its money.

I wish they were more public with the Indradanush excercise results

There is no point in using this thread to praise the Su-30 maddy. We know its good, lets leave it at that.

Frankly im verry interested to see what upgrade they get in 2012. Whether they put in Irbis or 2052, what avionics change, its all rather intriguing.

My guess would be Ibris. Currently Ibris is being tested on Su 35.

I'm not sure you would really want that.

It would be better than speculating in the wild. The SU 30 upgrades are MLU, the mid life upgrade.

IRBIS is a PESA just like BARS, no one in their right mind would change IRBIS from BARS, BARS is the Indian variant and we have exclusive IPR of the same as the RDP to MC1 and MC2 and many toher things are exclusively Indian.

The DSP of the IRBIS is better than that of BARS, it can be replaced.

The MLU of flanker if we see any should be with a better uprated engine, It needs a bit of punch, 2052 is too small radar for flanker, if it needes AESA why not a massive 3000 TR moduled AESA?

And Joey, who says that i thought that Irbis was an AESA??
I know Irbis is a PESA, but the fact that it is designed on BARS, means that we may as well design MC's for Irbis as well. The detection range and tracking range improvement of Irbis over BARS is simply humungous!

Though i have also read that the Su-30 series may not take the best out of the Irbis, because it has lower power to supply, something that is not there in Su-35. Either way, Irbis is one heck of a radar, qualifies as an AWAC i think!

And 2052 is not small, the whole concept of AESA is that it is scaleable tech, modular in design, more modules can be added in 2052 to fit Su-30MKI.

^^ The benefit of Irbis over BARS is not that huge as your thinking, I again ask who in their right mind would buy IRBIS with Russian MC's , RDP's et al when we have complete control overFlanker through BARS?
