How can we discuss something we can't really see? MOSSAD is a good intel agency, but it's a small one. I presume the bulk of its activities focus in its neighborhood. RAW and CIA will have many more assets in Pakistan; and if MOSSAD does have a presence in Pakistan, it's a small one. I mean why duplicate work when you are sharing intel with RAW and CIA.

Mossad is an exceptionally well-run organization.

They have been active in Pakistan for decades --- most notably during the Afghan War and our nuclear program. In addition to SIGINT/ELINT, Mossad had a few highly experienced agents in-country collecting HUMINT on AQ Khan. They disguised themselves as fishermen on Rawal Lake; their fishing rods had sophisticated long-range mics in them and they recorded conversations AQ Khan was having with 2-3 colleagues about his plans. This was passed on to the CIA and various assassination plans were prepared.

Since then, they have been active in running various agents and moles in a number of departments. Their prime target has remained our nuclear program and they have achieved some success in keeping tabs/infiltrating it. India and Israel have been cooperating increasingly on the security front and it's an open secret that Ajit Doval feels the Mossad model of aggressive covert action is the best way forward for Indian external intelligence and he actively fantasies about RAW reaching that level of expertise.

Given our pathetic governance, lack of merit in almost all government instituitions and a hopelessly corrupt and courage-less leadership, we are exceptionally vulnerable. Many Israeli leaders, on the other hand, have served in tough defence-related postings and are pretty hawkish about national security. This conceptual and intellectual difference cannot be overstated enough. This is Pakistan's biggest weakness.

They benefit from dedicated organizations for biowarfare (increasing a country's disease stress + coming up with untraceable toxins for assassinations; accusations include testing new poisons on Palestinian prisoners), cyber warfare (hacking, eavesdropping; one of the best in the world since they recruit their CS/IT students and "graduates" of the Unit 8200 have gone on to found/lead various successful tech start ups), etc.

Within Mossad is the "holy of holies" --- the Kidon Unit, solely responsible for external assassination. They are HQ'd separately and don't reveal their real identities to "regular" Mossad officers, including seniors during briefings. Imagine a unit that spends all of its time coming up with innovative ways to kill those deemed significant threats to Israel's interests. Many of these are pre-emptive (like the assassination of a Syrian Brig General in his beachfront villa a few years ago and the killing of a Canadian long-range gun designer who was developing a weapon for Saddam).

Finally, Mossad selection and training is amongst the toughest in the world. Training time before qualifying to become an officer is significantly more than the ISI and all officers, with the exception of the Director, are recruited and trained under the same rigorous guidelines --- unlike the ISI, where many (not all) officers are simply posted from their military units before "rotating out" again.

So, combining significant financial and intellectual resources results in a ruthless organization that is small, nimble and innovative. The ISI's Counter Intelligence Wing needs to seriously step up its game; and our S Wing should closely explore case studies of Mossad's external exploits to build additional capacities of its own.

Mossad uses creative recruitment riddle to enlist cyber spies

The Israeli intelligence organization published a riddle made up of seemingly random lines of code in a variety of newspapers.

On Israel's 68th Independence Day the Mossad announced a "help wanted" advertisement in a creative way.

Reminiscent of a technique employed by British Intelligence in WWII, the Israeli intelligence organization published a riddle made up of seemingly random lines of code in a variety of newspapers.

When solved, the code revealed the proposition: "Are you ready for a challenge?" Several further riddles eventually brought the candidates to the first challenge message which enlisted their help in a security simulation.

"Good morning Agent C!" the message reads. "One of your colleagues has been taken hostage by an unidentified group, and is being held in a previously unknown facility...The rescue team needs your help in opening this mechanism so they can enter and search the premises."

Information security researcher Yossi Dahan said of the Mossad's unique filtering process "in the event that the candidate successfully passes all of the stages of the challenge, then they can submit a resume."

"This is an excellent technique for the Mossad because it is a means of demonstrating the skill and ability of the participant to the interviewer," Dahan relayed.

Dahan additionally emphasized that the Mossad's challenge even attracted participants who were not necessarily interested in working for the intelligence organization.

Mossad seeks female agents in new ad campaign

Israeli intelligence organization announces search for ‘strong women of exceptional character’ to join its ranks

The activities of Israel’s famed intelligence agency, the Mossad, are generally conducted in the shadows. In recent days, however, the spy organization has launched a very public campaign with one aim: to enlist more women into its ranks.

With ads splashed across newspaper pages and on its official website, the agency has declared it’s on the hunt for new female intelligence-gathering officers with “exceptional” character.

“Wanted: Women of strength,” the ads announce in bold font splashed across a woman’s half-obscured visage. “We don’t care what you’ve done, we care about who you are!”

At the official website, inquirers are invited to apply for jobs in the agency’s operations, intel, staff and technological departments.

According to the Ynet news website, the female-targeting campaign was the first public recruitment effort by Mossad geared specifically toward women.

The website noted that female representation in the agency is already impressive for a security organization, with women making up 40 percent of employees.

The Mossad most recently figured in world headlines following December’s assassination of a Tunisian engineer said to have led Hamas’s drone program.

Both Hamas and Hezbollah have accused the agency of killing Mohammed al-Zoari, 49, who was shot to death at the wheel of his car outside his house in the Tunisian port city of Sfax. On Sunday Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi said there was “suspicion that Israel was involved.”
