Bombing an Airport is an act of terrorism.

A terrorist trying to avenge something by punishing Russians and spreading fear?

I think its a work of Chechnya rebels. As far as Ukraine, Georgia or Poland is concerned then no nation can do such act because any trace going back to them will be deleterious to them. I mean Georgia and his friends were not able to blink an eye when Russians army flooded their cities.

As far as training near/in Pakistan-Afghanistan border is concern then any sane Russian will not think if it has something to do with GoP or PA. Rather Pakistan should use this opportunity to break the ice and extend her hand to help Russian queries.

This incident will increased Russian influence in Afghanistan; non Taliban regime and more help to Americans for WOT. Help to Pakistan! may be, but what Pakistan will do in exchange?

MOSCOW: The suicide bomber who killed 35 people and wounded 180 at Moscow’s largest airport was a 20-year-old man from the volatile southern Caucasus region, Russian investigators said Saturday.

Breaking a five-day silence over the probe, federal investigators also said foreigners were deliberately targeted, marking an ominous new tactic in Russia’s losing battle with extremism.

Islamist rebels from the Caucacus, a group of mountainous Russian provinces that are beset with an entrenched separatist insurgency, have been widely suspected in the attack at Domodedovo Airport.

Saturday’s statement from federal investigators confirmed a suicide blast involving a bomb containing shrapnel. While authorities say they know the identity of the perpetrator, they suggested they still don’t know who masterminded the attacks.

“Despite the fact that we know the name of the terrorist, we won’t name him today ... since investigative searches are ongoing to identify and detain the organizers and accomplices of the terrorist act,” the statement said.

Investigators also confirmed fears that foreigners had for the first time entered the terrorists’ crosshairs; the victims included one person each from Britain, Germany, Austria, Ukraine, Tajikistan. Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

There were 16 Russian among the dead and the remaining 12 had not been identified.

“It was no accident that the terrorist act was carried out in the international arrivals hall. According to the investigation, the terrorist act was aim first and foremost at foreign citizens,” the statement said.

Chechen rebels have claimed responsibility for a number of deadly attacks over the years, including ones against the Moscow subway and at the same airport.

According to Markin, by results of investigatory and operative actions, all persons involved in explosion, occurred on December, 31st, 2010, in Open Company hotel room "sports-shooting Club of the Military-hunting society", Golovachyov located in the street in Moscow are revealed. "A part from suspects are already detained, concerning 4 persons under the consequence petition the question on their arrest is considered, some persons are searched by field services. According to the investigation this terrorist group prepared act of terrorism in the center for Moscow on December, 31st, 2010", - the representative of committee has told.

He has underlined that "by the spent investigation is established that act of terrorism in" Domodedovo "and explosion in a hotel complex have been made by the steady armed groups not connected with each other operating in territory of different republics of the North Caucasus".

Let's remind that explosion in the international terminal "Domodedovo" has occurred on January, 24th. Then investigating bodies informed that the suicide bomber who was in crowd meeting, has put in action the explosive filled with amazing elements capacity to 7 kgs of trotyl. According to all available data from Minzdravsotsrazvitija, 35 persons were lost, more than 120 have been hospitalized.

MOSCOW, January 29 (Itar-Tass) -- The suicide bomber who set off the explosive device is identified -- it is a 20-year-old native of a North Caucasian republic, the Investigation Committee’s spokesman Vladimir Markin said.

"Though the investigators know the name of the terrorist, we will not give it today, as investigation and operative search work is underway now to establish and arrest the organisers and the accomplices of the terrorist act," Markin noted.

The official said investigators of the main department of the Russian Investigation Committee together with operatives of the Federal Security Service and the Interior Ministry had solved the crime committed at Domodedovo airport on January 24.

"I particularly note that the terrorist act was committed in the international arrivals hall not accidentally. According to the investigators' version, it was aimed first of all against foreign citizens," Markin said.

The investigators are ready to make public the results of the investigation into another terrorist crime. All the persons involved in the explosion that took place in a hotel room at the sport shooting club located at Golovachev Street in Moscow on December 31, 2010, are identified, Markin said.

Some of the suspects are already taken into custody. Under consideration is placing of four of them under arrest. Several are sought by operatives. According to the investigators, the group of terrorists prepared a terrorist attack to be committed in central Moscow on December 31, the official said.

He particularly noted that the investigation established that the attack at Domodedovo and the explosion in the hotel complex were committed by armed groups that operated in North Caucasian republics, but were not connected with each other.

The deadly terrorist blast at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport on January 24 was carried out by a resident of the Russia’s North Caucasus region and was aimed primarily at foreigners, investigators said on Saturday.

“It was no accident that the terrorist attack took place in the international arrivals zone,” Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said.

“Investigators believe that it was directed against, in the first place, foreign nationals,” he added.

He also said that the blast, which killed 35 and injured dozens, was carried out by a 20-year-old resident of the country’s volatile North Caucasus region.

“Despite the investigation having established the name of the terrorist, we will not name him today,” Markin went on, adding that investigators were seeking to detain the organizers of the attack.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which came less than 12 months after two female suicide bombers from the North Caucasus republic of Dagestan attacked the Moscow metro, killing 39.

Markin also said that a number of suspects believed to have been planning a December 31 attack in the centre of Moscow had now been taken into custody, while others had been placed on a wanted list.

He also said the suspects had been involved in a December 31 blast at a hotel room in southeast Moscow. Reports say the blast killed a would-be suicide bomber who was assembling an explosive device.

The suicide bomber who killed 35 people at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport was a 20-year-old man from the North Caucasus, Russian investigators say.

The Federal Investigative Committee made the announcement in a statement on its website.

But spokesman Vladimir Markin said the man's name would not be released, while investigations continued.

Some 180 people were injured during Monday's blast at the airport's international arrivals hall.

The investigative committee said that the bombing was aimed "first and foremost" at foreign citizens.

"I would especially like to note that it was by no means an accident that the act of terror was committed in the international arrivals hall," Mr Markin said in the statement.

At least seven foreigners were killed in the bombing at the airport - the busiest serving the Russian capital. The arrivals hall was full of people as several international flights had just landed.

Those killed included one person each from Britain, Germany, Austria, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

Sixteen Russians were among the dead and the remaining 12 people who died have not been identified.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sacked several officials - said to include a regional transport chief and a Moscow police deputy head - after the bombing, blaming them for poor security.

Last March, Moscow's underground system was rocked by two female suicide bombers from Russia's volatile Dagestan region, who detonated their explosives on the busy metro system during rush hour, killing 40 people and injuring more than 80.
