Learned recently from the Chinese invention patent magazine noted that the original Beijing Power Machinery Research Fellow Guisheng patented invention - the afterburning engine motor car unit will be unveiled at its thirteenth China Beijing International High-Tech Expo. With the rapid development of China's economy, rail transport capacity has become increasingly tense, does not fulfill the needs of its outstanding performance in the annual "Spring Festival", the face of short-term surge during the Spring Festival passenger flow peak, the railway transport capacity remains seriously inadequate, in 2010, "Spring Festival" stage, railway sector with a great deal of effort should be said that some progress; expected to solve the "difficult to get one vote" issue until after 2015.

Therefore, to solve the problem of tension depends on transportation capacity expansion of road network and increase train speed. The State Intellectual Property Office on February 24, 2010 granted a patent invented by researchers Guisheng technology - moving cars afterburning engine unit. The new technology will provide a practical vehicle for afterburning engines moving unit, which is installed to the bogie on the turbojet, afterburning engines as a moving car unit. The afterburning engine unit with traction and thrust rod connecting rod cars and moving vehicles without power units, the formation of the new EMUs, with the second new EMU power.

Guisheng researcher, said in an interview, when the new EMUs with relatively high speed (such as 200 km to 300 km / h) normal driving on straight track, open the afterburning engines, the new EMU to add new of thrust, so the new EMUs for higher speeds, is expected to reach 500 km / h or more; the afterburning turbojet engine unit and the general Train, is expected to increase the speed of trains over 20%; the turbojet afterburning engine unit and freight train formation, the speed of freight trains is expected to increase over 20%.

The patented technology applications in the field of rail transport in aerospace technology, the current basis, further improve the efficiency of railway network to ease the tension in railway transport capacity of new ideas.

According to report, China now has the development, production, use turbojet engine capacity; technology is mature, advanced, and a number of varieties and specifications, capacity strengthening, testing equipment, perfect. At the same time, matching the second railway locomotive engine turbojet engine, also has a strong technology base.

According to Guisheng researcher, proposed that the patented technology as the afterburning turbojet engine used in the field of rail transport to form a powerful combination of the situation. The patented technology, the ready-made railway locomotives (diesel or electric locomotive) and the turbine jet engine afterburner tied to one, with independent intellectual property rights in China hybrid integration of this locomotive was born; After all these efforts, the near future, hybrid integration of locomotives will be spread throughout the country, and even the world.

Uh?? So they are going to stick an afterburner on a train engine? how practical and fuel efficient is this going to be? In comparison they might be better off building more maglev trains IMO.

My guess is that it is not for everyday use but for stuff such as rapid troop transport.

If ever they are short of engine in wartime they will stick some old turbofan/turbojet taken from these old j-7s and tada!
