Mohammed is most popular name for baby boys in UK

Zaki and Jana, I agree that there might be some exceptions, but overall more kids is equal to more problems and less time and energy to raise them in a proper manner. on top of that the quality of lives of parents also become badly compromised as a matter of fact their lives will be non existent.

Dude... in a lot of countries it is common to have big families... and with big families, everyone is there to support each other. It works both ways. Nowadays, our houses get bigger and our families get smaller.

One of my friend has 32 brothers and sisters and he is basically from Somalia............ and the most interesting part is.......... Everybody is well educated :)

(I don't think there is any of his brother or sister that I know is not well educated so......)

And I am not joking, thats a fact :) - He had 4 mothers

zaki bro, i am sure you know as you live in the uk, the somalis are the most underachieved of all communities in the UK, large families, all of them on benefit, underachieved kids, no social life, all of them living in their gettoes(spelling?), lots of them engaged in drug dealing, no good education, robberies and other bad things.

and let me tell you one more thing, in alot of those countries that they have large families, are those countries with huge poverty, no jobs, no education and all the evils of society.

it is not about support my friend, i was talking about how you bring up your child. later on in their lives they might help each other, but how to give society a good child is my question. i am a parent and know how truely hard it is to raise a child properly.

Well, so are the many other people with many children. They are parents too.

Yaar, I know what you are talking about
But there are millions of examples out there when the parents had only 2 childrens but both children's couldn't educate at all... or couldn't pursue, develop or prosper their lives. I don't think the number of children's matter here as long as you can handle them properly..... But unfortunately most families in our region (Pakistan/India/Afghanistan) parents themselves are not well educated so even if they have a single child, they cannot help him do his homework or solve the basic problems a child may have, can't care for his food or health issues..... etc

If you can properly care for your childrens, you can have more - otherwise 2 are more than enough....

PS: I am in great favour of controlling population but that does not mean your children can't get proper care if he has more siblings

Well, as i said before, exceptions do exist in both sides, either big families with quality kids or less kids and less quality, but in general number of kids do have a huge and direct effect the way they are brought up.

This is the problem i am talking about!!! If you have more kids then it is not possible to handle them properly. Yes, someone can have more kids, leave the kids to go on the streets and terrorize the locals while the parents do their gossip or watching telly, this kinds of upbringing is easy but not the right one. But if you want to bring the child up in a right way, then trust me you wont have the energy, time, patience etc, everything will run out easily and you will end up shouting at kids or hitting them, parents will eventually fight each other and there will a chaoes in the house. one kid is not that problem as it is one, but once the second child comes then you'll realize the hardship of parenting, let me repeat it again, you will only feel the pressure if you do really care about the future of the child, otherwise having more kids is not that difficulut, have kids and leave them to go out and do whatever they want.

And yes, parents' education is the key as well.

Hahahaha. There are 500000 Bangladeshis in u.k. and they contributed a lot to this popular name achievement..lol. Anyway, this high birth rate is not acceptable in poor countries like south asia. . . . . . There are some rich muslim countries such as Brunei , Uae, Qatar wher having many children is part of their tradition. . :)

I agree with Ahmad on the debate. What others are arguing that "Some people raise just 2 children and cannot even raise them properly" is not an argument at all. It happens because western parents are not so strict as Muslim parents. There is much more to a human life than being a baby producing factory. If you see in India, most people involved in petty crimes and labor are those who have 7-10 siblings and their parents cannot provide for themselves. Making a huge family to "help each other" is a very out dated mentality, people in villages of states like Bihar still follow it and we all know where they are.

Mohammad is a nice name, but the news is not a good one. Compare to the over all population in britain, muslims are small, but yet the name they use for their babies comes on top of the list, it means we are producing more and more kids, that is not so good. we need to have less but quality kids.

Ahmad saab you didn't get the point...Muhammad name is getting popular in non muslims as well hence this name has topped the list this year

There is no question of muslims population in britain...YOUR HIGHNESS

.
We usually have our names as Mohammed ___________
like,
my name is Hassan,
but its my saudi friends call me Mohammed Hassan and like that.
So it could be that reason!
