@jbgt90 any comments now. Passed in both houses of parliament. Passing in the states will be easier as most are BJP ruled. Even the congress is supporting the bill as they cant be seen opposing the poor.

You dont get it mate , its not going to be law due to the supreme court , i must admit i was surprised it passes so soon but then its election season , so i should not have been surprised.

The govt fels that there are loopholes in the Indira Sahwney judgement. the govt is very enthusiatic about it. 7th the announcement was made and 9th it was passed.

They wont be working like this if there was no gameplan. If the constitution itself is amended then the old judgement will be null and void. As it is there is precedent with Tamil Nadu having 69%.

We should see IF AT ALL someone challenges in SC and what is the stance.

I want to know more on what is your take if the SC allows the law? It is a big boost of the BJP in 2019

I agree 8 L is high but the creamy layer limit in OBC is 8 L so they had to do that. If they make it lower then it will cause a disparity. And they cant lower the creamy layer limit in OBC because the social justice warriors will not let them do it.

No... you should cap 2.5 lac or 3 lac.... otherwise there is no point to provide such reservation... just think a guy who earn 60k per month vs 10k per month... A... can afford better school for his kids... meanwhile B struck with govt schools... do you think B will get the reservation benefits?? Obviously no... you are pooling huge no of crowd into 10% quota with that 8lac cap... this is just political stunt... BJP should do more ground work on this.... shouldn't take decisions in hurry before elections. . I don't think poor will benefit from this step...

Though I agree with you that the bottom limit should be 2.5L below which you do not pay tax. Unfortunately what we want and what is politically possible are 2 different things

Actually I support economic criteria for all reservations SC, ST, OBC, General. Apart from that reservation for persons with disabilities.

Also the reservation should be for only 2 generations. If your father and you got the reservation then your children should not get them. If in 2 generations (approx 40-50 years) you are not able to uplift the family then there is no hope.

However, I am also aware that in the current political climate that is not possible. I don't live in a utopian world.

Ofcourse I want India to go in a direction which I feel is the best. So do you and @jbgt90 and all others. That is why we have elections every 5 years to choose the govt which will do that to the best of its ability.
