Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad organises a rally in front of the National Press Club on Saturday to protest against the foreign minister's statement Prothom Alo
The Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad (Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council) has protested against foreign minister AK Abdul Momen for allegedly making false statements about the attacks on puja 'mandaps' of the Hindu community in Bangladesh and also saying that 33,000 puja mandaps have been made under the government patronage.

Leaders of the organisation said, the foreign minister must take responsibility for these lies or the voters of the minority community will boycott him if he contests in the next election.
Leaders and activists of the minority community were demonstrating in front of the National Press Club in the capital city on Saturday.

The protest had been organised by the Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad. Bangladesh Shikhyak Oikya Parishad, Jubo Oikya Parishad, Chhatra Oikya Parishad and members of other minority community organisations.

The foreign minister recently made these statements about the 'mandap' attacks, during a meeting in New Delhi with India's National Security advisor Ajit Doval.

Speaking at the protest rally, president of the Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad, Ushatan Talukdar, said that teachers are being garlanded with shoes in this country now, that too in the presence of the administration. The government thinks it doesn't need the votes of the minority community. But to establish Sonar Bangla, it is essential to establish the rights of all people, the rule of law and justice. If the minority community is to survive, they must force the government to take action regarding these incidents.

Another president of Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad, Nimchandra Bhowmik, said, "We do not have the Bangladesh for which the liberation war was fought, for which the nation state was formed. There is militancy, terrorism, and a Pakistan-style undemocratic system in the country. A teacher was humiliated in Narail, another teacher was beaten to death. No one wants such a Bangladesh. Everyone must come forward and protest against the attacks on the minority community in different places of the country."

Another president of the council, Nirmal Rozario called for the trial of those involved in the humiliation of the acting principal of Mirzapur United College in Narail, Swapan Kumar Biswas. He said, those who build up the society and the people, today are being abused. This is too shameful. The nation will have to pay for these incidents.

Nirmal Rozario went on to say, the government has been successful in bringing terrorism under control. The government must take up a 'zero tolerance' policy for the security of the minority community. One incident after the other is taking place as justice is not carried out.

Referring to the foreign minister, Nirmal Rozario said, "He has exposed his ignorance about Bangladesh." He called on him to make responsible remarks and not harm the harmony of the country. "Irresponsible remarks will destroy the harmony," he said.

Another leader of the council, Subrata Chowdhury, said that there were innumerable incidents all over the country of teachers being mistreated. Textbooks were changed at the behest of Hefazat leaders. Humanity, values are being destroyed in the country.

"Even 50 years after independence we are having to say regretfully, no one wants this Bangladesh."

Following the rally, a procession was taken along Tophkana Road and other roads. Earlier at the demonstration, a protest rally was declared for 3:00pm on 16 July.

Also speaking at the rally were Hindu Boudhha Christian Oikya Parishad joint general secretaries Manindra Kumar Nath, Jayanta Kumar Deb and others.

Can you imagine how many Muslims would be massacred if they pulled the same stunt in India?

Bangladesh is the most tolerant country in South Asia by distance.

How do we know that?

Answer: despite NRC/CAA and milk and honey in India - our Hindus don’t want to leave. In fact, millions are coming back from the land of cow dung!

Go and pray to your gods that Jinnah and Mujib birthed Bangladesh.

The whole article is full of usual fluff but we are still not sure what Alga said!

BTW, does anybody know the result of the 'investigation' of the Puja Mandap incident?
Some critics say that this happened due to BJP's need to win elections in BD adjacent states.

Some critics say that this happened due to BJP's need to win elections in BD adjacent states.

Some said there were no night guard and one Indian new paper said night guard was sleep as claimed by one of the member of the place.

Plus there were no video footage of inside that was really surprising.

What did momen say exactly?

Citing news reports, the statement said Momen held a meeting with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on June 22 in New Delhi.

In that meeting, Momen reportedly told Doval that false propaganda is being spread over torture and attacks on Hindus and temples in Bangladesh, said the statement

Furthermore, Momen also reportedly stated that over 33 thousand puja mandaps were prepared in Bangladesh under the government's patronage, the statement said.

The Oikya Parishad and Puja Udjapan Parishad termed the foreign minister's statements "absolute lies".

I'm currently in Bangladesh... Passed through a famous Hindu area of my city Chittagong today...

Apparently some Hindu festival will take place there in a few days.. place is like 10 minutes from city centre.

Boards everywhere about the festival with photos of the Hindu deities, chariots on the street sides, Hindus walking around openly with religious symbolism, Hindu temple on one side of the road and Buddhist monastery on the other..

Just for the purpose of sharing my experience on pdf and seeing if the minority persecution allegations are true, I asked my rickshaw wala what he thinks of it, and I'll directly translate his reply here

"This is Hindu para (area), on left you have Hindu temple, on right Buddhist temple, it's also their country they have every right to celebrate."

When I questioned him about whether any untoward incidents have ever happened here, he said, not that he knows of and that stuff like that never happens in Bangladesh.

Mind you, this was a poor man with probably no education and he held such liberal values..

While passing through the area, I didn't notice people acting weird or staring at the chariots or staring at the large posters with pictures of Hindu deities...

People just went along their day like it was nothing out of the ordinary,.. because it isn't, Hindus have as much place in Bangladesh as Muslims do

And if I had the sense to record a video, I could show you all that there is no so called genocide against Hindus in Bangladesh.. they live happily baring a few untoward incidents when criminals pick on them for an easy fiest.

And as for everyone in this so called minorities oika porishod, they're foreign agents who are out of touch with reality... Trying to please their foriegn masters while living in Bangladesh only fuels the rhetoric that extremists preach...

This minority porishod is in fact not the friend of the minorities but their worst enemy.

Hindus get upset when toupee wala makes some boasts.

Hindus call us termites and we don’t even complain.

Hindus really are a bunch of snowflakes!

“minority” leaders work for BJP.

They are the foot soldiers of the Muslim hating genocidal ModiG.

They want to wipe out Muslims from South Asia.

It’s all funded by RAW.

500 taka each - for the Rent A Mob.

Bangladesh carries out these weird "genocides" against Hindus where no one dies. The UN should investigate this paranormal activity.

Funny genocide where Hindu population rises despite the mass abortion of female foetuses.

Termination of female fetus is an Indian problem, not a Bangladeshi problem, Hindu or Muslim.
