Ankara (AFP) - A Turkish military helicopter with 14 people onboard, including a brigadier general, crashed Tuesday in the northeastern province of Giresun, CNN-Turk television reported.

The Sikorsky S-70 crashed in bad weather in a mountainous area of Giresun, which lies on the Black Sea, the channel said, adding that the cause of the crash was not immediately known.

The passengers included several other officers as well as civilians and children -- relatives of soldiers, the channel said, without confirming any casualties.

I hope that all passengers are save and well.

It might be rocket Launcher or stringer attack from surface to air

Russian r using that to shoot down the F-16 fighter jets by Anti-Aircraft Weapons - S-400

It is not, since it crashed in Northern Turkey's Giresun province. There is no PKK in there. Bad weather is reported to be the cause.

RIP to the victims.

Sir one never know the Russian army and there plans particularly under President Putin. They have the capacity to attack inside the country or anywhere inside Turkey.

There is PKK in Giresun my friend. Giresun is the patient zero for PKK's Black Sea structure.

Brigadier is wounded, no life treathening situation. But several officers, their wives and children are KIFA. They were flying to a distant town to commerate a ramadan eid visit to a fallen soldier's family.

Well at least I haven't heard of any PKK attacks in black sea coast. Either it barely happens or it is not being reported. Also the population is not Kurd if I remember correctly.

There were news about a destroyed pkk hideout just yesterday but yeah they are marginal, they are trying to set foot on black sea coast since years, their problem is that they have no local support, a long term presence in a large scale is not possible.

Exactly. Btw I've seen the area is very beautiful with dense jungles and all the greenery (like Iran's northern areas), would love to visit one day. The good thing is it attracts less tourists compared to other areas like Istanbul, Antalya and Izmir which makes it even more attractive for a visit.

Yeah the nature there is very beautiful, mostly untouched but about tourism, Arab tourists discovered it lately there is more and more nature and spa tourism from ME, espacially Uzungöl.

RIP, I think personally it's wrong to have families fly in military vehicles unless it's for evacuation or emergency.
