LAHORE - Top security services of the military are cooperating with civilian agencies in Balochistan to recover the kidnapped son of local government minister Sardar Mustafa Khan Tareen, security agencies’ officials told The Nation yesterday.
According to them, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) sections dealing with Baloch insurgents have joined the efforts of civilian agencies to recover of Asad Khan Tareen, who was kidnapped by armed men from Pishin yesterday.
In addition to these two premier security service, Frontier Corps Intelligence Unit (FCIU) has also been engaged. An FCIU insider confirmed it when contacted to get some information about the province-wide search for Asad.
Pishin District Police Officer Hayee Baloch told the media that unknown armed men kidnapped Asad from the Cadet College area of Pishin and abandoned his vehicle close to the college soon after the abduction.
Several suspects were detained from Pishin.
Mustafa Tareen was elected MPA from Pishin district in 2013, and is affiliated with Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party.
There is a strong possibility his son has been kidnapped by Baloch militant outfits that have been kidnapping state officials and important figures in the past for ransom and other some demands.
This is why military intelligence services have been requested to assist the recovery operation, said security agencies’ officials.
The border areas are being checked to block the possible shifting of the kidnapped to Afghanistan’s province of Kandahar.
The Baloch militant outfits in the past had been smuggling their victims to the neighbouring lawless country to avert security forces’ rescue operations.
The top suspect in the list is Balochistan Liberation Army headed by Harbiyar Murri who is said to be living somewhere in India under the protection of RAW. The second on the list is Balochistan Liberation Front of Dr Allah Nazar Baloch while the third suspect is Balcoh Republican Army of Brahamdagh Bugti.
Over the years, Indian external intelligence service RAW, mostly operating from Kandahar in connivance with elements of Afghan security agency NDS, has been helping the Baloch insurgents to fuel unrest in Balochistan. These outfits are still getting financial, training and other support from RAW operatives in Afghanistan.
Commander Kulbushan Yadav, a high-ranking RAW official who was caught by ISI near Afghanistan border, was handling the operation to aid and abet subversion in the province and to destroy CPEC project.
The military agencies are therefore investigating the matter with its possible linkages with the Baloch insurgents working for RAW.
