New Delhi: Hollywood star Hugh Jackman will be the brand ambassador of Micromax Informatics Ltd, the Indian consumer electronics company announced on Friday.

Jackman will be seen endorsing the soon-to-be-launched Micromax smartphone called Canvas Turbo, which is part of the Canvas series of smartphones for Micromax, according to a statement released by the company. Micromax manufactures hand-held devices such as mobile phones, tablets and LED computers.

“I am extremely thrilled and honoured to be part of the Micromax family,” said Jackman, famous for playing Wolverine in the X-Men series movies as well as winning an Academy award nomination for the movie version of the musical Les Miserables.

“I am a huge lover of India as it is one of the most exciting countries in the world and we also share our love for cricket,” Jackman said.

In a statement released by the company, chief marketing officer Shubhodip Pal said he was excited at the proposed association with Jackman.

“As we look to expand our footprint across the globe in various international markets, the association with Hugh Jackman is an ideal partnership for us to connect with audiences as he is the leading name in the entertainment industry in the world,” Pal said.

Brand experts and talent professionals acknowledged that the move was oriented towards changing the appeal of the company and increasing its salience across income levels. “Micromax has for long been known as an Indian company and that comes with its own disadvantages such as price barriers,” said Manish Porwal, managing director of Alchemist Marketing and Talent Solutions.

“For a long time now, they have tried to pitch themselves as an international company. This association with Jackman might help them position themselves as an international company,” he added.

Bold and well thought move . Bai Indians ke paas dimaag to acha khaasa hota hai ...........baniya dynasty i guess

I dont know how much impact he will have in India, considering micromax phones are directed for masses keeping the price low....but for out of India it will have an impact.

I guess he has been signed for the endorsement of "Canvas Turbo" smartphone only, which is part of the Canvas series of smartphones of Micromax - obviously designed for the tech savvy's only....

And I guess the company has sales presence spread across Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Singapore and it is thinking of venturing in many other countries too which will be benefited by the same.....

Now if someone doesn't buy micromax

Taking a cue from Micromax, Chaini Khaini hires Brad Pitt as brand ambassador.

Mumbai. Inspired from Micromax’s brilliant image makeover initiative after it hired Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman as its brand ambassador, leading snus tobacco brand Chaini Khaini has roped in Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt as their brand ambassador.
“Khaini as a tobacco product is always looked down upon in the tobacco segment as cheap Chinese phones are looked down upon in the smartphone segment. We need to position ourselves as not being too different from other tobacco products like cigarettes,” Mukesh Saini, the marketing head of Chaini Khaini explained.
Since branding attempts like a man buying out East India Company after eating paan masala (a similar product) didn’t seem to have left much impact on consumers, Chaini Khaini decided to go the Micromax way.
“We want to tell India’s smartphone generation that Khaini is not that cheap product, even Brad Pitt eats khaini,” Saini further explained.
The marketing head further claimed that thanks to their company’s efforts, khaini will become a globally renowned Indian product after yoga and chicken curry.
“It will be India’s next biggest export to western world, and will help the country in Bharat Nirman by reducing the current account deficit,” he added, “So don’t get shocked if few years down the line you find a US President using our product.”
“I love India and am looking forward to this mystical association,” Brad told Faking News confirming the news.
In order to not lose its current customer base, the company is planning to show Brad Pitt in desi look, while projecting suave look for the urban and international audiences. They are also planning to open khaini outlets all across India and in selected cities abroad.

When asked why did they choose Brad Pitt, the marketing head explained that his performance in the famous Hollywood flick “Inglourious Basterds” sealed the deal.
“Remember the stiff lower lip that was slightly pushed out by him in the movie. That’s the way you consume khaini. We want to make people feel like Brad Pitt when they buy Chaini Khaini,” the manager revealed the marketing message.

Good too see Indian firms having global outreach.

It will be more of a marketing for Hugh Jackman, then for Micromax. How many would known Hugh Jackman in India?
