It's not an exact copy; differences remain in the cabin, the rotor blades (five vs the Black Hawk's four), landing gear, as well as the electronics and optronics (note that the Z-20 has a FLIR ball).

Dear friends as we know MI 17 is backbone for our army for decades. But recently crash rate of Mi 17 is growing day by day

I opened this thread to discuss why not PA in future buy new helicopter and gradually get rid of MI 17 as 2 helicopters are crazhed in last six month PA will buy more 2 helicopters im saying PA should choose more advance version of MI 17 or some other helicopter or ask china to co produce helicopter as we did with thunder programme china will be more greatfull to make it as china and russia also co producing heavy lifter helicopter.

Dont you think if we get helicopter with china it will be cheap and made for our needs

Mi-17 is the best of its Kind but like every other helo low flying and bad weather brings helos down. Helos are prone to crashes while landing or take off strong winds, rain and snow also contributed. Above mentioned Z-8A very inferior to mi-17 in comparison of troops and goods carrying capacity. We need to address training and maintenance, there is no urgent need to replace Mi-17.

We have the Z-18A which will be superior than Mi-17 and our Z-8A.

Dear im not saying we buy replacement today im saying slowly which MI 17 are crashed in its place we buy other helicopter so we start the process of replacing them all the time we cannot blame crashes some time maintanance and some time helicopter engines get weaker as our army uses them more often than not specially rescue operation

MI 17 is never meant to be rescue helicopter it is military utility helicopter which we use 3 type of operations we need helicopter which can perform both operation equally.

Z 18 looks cool we also can co develop with china something like NH 90 copy would do better for army and navy

2. Naval ASW ROLE
3.Rescue operation specialist

If we can di that with china we can easily sell them to moddle east nigeria srilanka mayanmar indonesia mostly muslim countries will by accirding to their needs becoz it can be used for rescue role specially give it edge and medium lift make more interest with price tag affordable like thunder we can sell more than we think
