Metro Bridge Collapses In Mumbai

MUMBAI: Panic gripped the people of Mumbai after a part of a metro bridge under construction collapsed at suburban Andheri in Mumbai on Tuesday.

As many as eight people have been injured in the incident while two persons have been rescued and rushed to a local hospital.

Two fire engines and an ambulance have been pressed into action. Rescue operations are underway.

The bridge might have collapsed after heavy rains lashed the city.

Bridges and buildings are built to withstand earthquakes but this bridge collapsing due to rains is ridiculous. This shows that the top most Indian companies are also not upto the standards. The Delhi airport metro which was made by an Indian company is closed for repairs. It is better to oursource these big jobs to foreign companies who have the resources and expertise.

All these projects - the Metro and the Mono rail are being implemented in hurry and still running behind schedule.

I hope no major accident happens in these projects.
