Disbanding USSR made Russia far more powerful. The other Soviet republics were a drag on Russia. Everything was built by Russia. The other Soviet republics did nothing. Which ex Soviet country can make Su-57? Only Russia can.

Cold War was never over. Cold War became much more intense after USSR disbanded and Russia became far more powerful. America passed CAATSA declaring Russia an enemy state. This never happened between 1940s and 1991.

Russia always had very little power other than mouth, even after disbanding USSR.

It is Americans who portray them as a powerful super power.

The Cold War never ended derp. The Cold War started in 1945 and continues to this day between Russia and America and now adding in EU and China.

Most sane people would regard the Cold War ending when USSR broke up.

A bunch of guy who never served in the Military and have never lived in Europe is talking trash about EU, China, Russia and America. That is funny.

EU Army, is not going to happen, anyone who lives or lived in EU in any period of time will know, they don't need America to play the isolation card. EU member themselves did a very good job already doing so.

Or if EU army actually did happens, it would either be German or France took over all of Europe in another WW2 style campaign. Otherwise, no dice.

The only super powers in EU are France, Germany. Sweden is a power, but not a super power like France and Germany.

Quite obvious a true unified European army will never work.

1) There are plenty of European countries with different geopolitical interests, how will a unified army respond to that? Who gets to say what the army would do? majority vote?- then the big countries will almost always decide what happens Unanimous vote?- then any country could use the veto for their own interests

2) Would every EU country want such an army? I highly doubt the current Italy would want that.

3) If we assume every EU country would want that how are we going to pay for all the costs?

I don't see such an army happening, unless we create a European federal state - which is a complete other issue.

Not really. EU has several times the population of Russia. Russia is the northern giant, but very little actual power other than mouth. France alone almost occupied Russia in the 1800s. Germany alone almost occupied Russia in the 1900s.

what happened in 1800s and early 1900 is Irrelevant in modern age. there are no German Japanese Ottoman and Authoritarian superpowers. There are no Spanish and Portuguese Mighty Navies. there is no Mighty British Empire. There can be no comparison at all.
In Modern day, I am Not speaking economically.Russian Military Industrial Complex and Defense Production industry is Second only to USA. Even Whole of the Europe and China Combined cannot reach Russian Defense Industry output and Exports.
As for there Tactical Operative Efficiency everyone have seen what Russia is capable of Single Handily doing in Ukrainian and Syria.
Whole of European Armies are Kittens in terms of military against Russia.
Only United States Can take Russia out militarily. Unless Europeans decide to finally stand up on there own feet to defend themselves instead of running to Americans to save them every time.
An Interesting thought is if Europe Decide to Ally itself with Russia. Imagine what Economic Might of Europe Injected into Cash Strapped Russian Defense Industry do.
Russians were able to produce Systems like S400 Mig35 and Su57 with defense budget comparable to India and Saudi Arabia
