Iranian adventuress motorbike rider Mahsa Homayounfar has travelled over 18,000 kilometers on her motorcycle around the world so far.
Homayounfar started an adventurous journey three years ago from Spain. She has visited more than 60 countries over the course of many different adventures and has been motorcycling solo in Africa and along the Pamir Highway.
She cycled 18,000 km over four months and traveled to Morocco, Mauritania, Mali, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Pakistan and Vietnam. But that journey was cut short when she broke her leg on Qeshm Island along the coastal banks of Persian Gulf and returned to Spain.
Homayounfar, who has been living in Spain for 20 years, is running the incredible project named ‘Not just a Tourist’
The company was founded in 2011 by Mahsa, a traveler since the age of 16. Throughout her diverse adventures in over 60 countries, being welcomed and guided through a destination by one of its locals has always been the most inspiring way for Mahsa to experience a new culture.
“My business is traveling. I have a small tourism company named “Not Just Tourist” in Spain,” Iran-daily quoted Homayounfar as saying.
Stressing that she often clears ambiguities about Iran during her trip, Homayounfar said, “As an Iranian woman, my travels are a direct publicity for Iran. When I say I’m Iranian, everybody is surprised. They want to know more about Iran.”
Homayounfar plans to visit Abadan and Khorramshahr, which has been delayed because of the wait for getting the visas of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and China.
Homayounfar has studied history, arts and foreign trade. She is fluent in Spanish and German.
