Islamabad: Maulana Tahir Ashrafi, a leading Islamic scholar, was seen drunk on live television while talking to Geo News Anchors.
Maulana was taken on line by Geo News for sharing his views for the going conflict between Arsalan Iftikhar and Imran Khan. But he shocked everyone as soon as he started speaking. At this moment, Geo News Anchor Masood Raza was also seen giggling while he spoke, the other female anchor was confused as to how and why he was taken on line.
A clarification has been surfaced online from Pakistan Ulema Council, claiming that Maulana Tahir Ashrafi did not consume alcohol and instead said he had been chewing paan, a traditional mixture of tobacco leaves.
The news went viral in Pakistan and soon became the subject of ridicule on social media.
