Match-fixing: PCB bans Umar Akmal for three years from all cricket

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Disciplinary Committee on Monday banned Umar Akmal for a term of three years after he failed to inform authorities about being approached by corrupt elements in timely manner.

Chairman of the Disciplinary Panel, Justice (retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan announced the decision and found that Akmal had violated the Article 2.4.4 of the code.

Earlier, Akmal had said during an interview that he was offered $200,000 by fixers to leave two deliveries in one of the matches. He also claimed that he was offered money to skip matches against India.

“I was once offered $200,000 for leaving two deliveries. I was also offered to skip matches against India,” he said in the interview.

The batsman also said that he was approached during ICC World Cup, including the 2015 edition played in Australia and New Zealand.

However, Akmal had failed to mention if he had reported this to the anti-corruption unit or not.

According to ICC anti-corruption code 2.4.4 and 2.4.5, players are bound to report all the corrupt approaches made to them during any event and failure of doing so carry a minimum punishment of five years.

Akmal was suspended from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Feb 2, and charged with two separate violations of the PCB's code of conduct.

Kamran Akmal , continuously was left out of Senior Team's consideration
Umar Akmal , has been sidelined by cricket politics of Pakistan

Very unfortunate , shows weakness in Selection committee and Management

Umar Akmal has been getting banned for marginal stuff like Dancing at private gathering or Discussion with someone one street , Dropped from team for alleged fat body content and now this 3 year ban


Cricket team is not Military a professional player have their own private time

Cricket should be banned in Pakistan all together. Widespread gambling and rotten TV channels are the main driving force of cricket circus which is played essentially by clowns.
Countries which can not win track and field, swimming, Olympic medals, are the front-runners of cricket. For the sake of analogy, cricket is what comical 'Wrestling' is to sport.
Cricket is in reality, the Bollywoody circus version of a pseudo-sport portraying malnurished and corrupted people as 'sportsmen'. It is nothing but a Indian mafia business model to create a false consciousness of slum dog millionaires.
It is time to focus on real sports like Soccer, athletics, hokey, swimming etc. even Ski !
If gambling is banned in Pakistan, why not cricket which is synonymous with gambling ? Please stop glorifying this pseudo-sport.

After Sydney test kamran akmal should never be considered full stop and umar akmal is not serious regarding his talent

National Team only owns a player's time for the practice sessions and the trainer has right to request a certain workout regiment for the player.

Beyond this Training Sessions, the rest of day is a Professional player's personal time


a) They can dance in their friend's shadi
b) They can go eat out with their friends
c) They can drive , or have a driver drive them around
d) They can attend private parties or friends gatherings
e) They can enjoy the amenities available to all citizens of Pakistan
f) If a player has reported, any approach from external party for corruption and he has reported it should be considered that the person did report the matter (with delay)

National Team , has no right to deny a player their personal time


When on local or foreign tour the National Team only has right to expect the player to report for the Game or Training camp on time and arrive on time at match day , if team is travelling together of course the expectation is the player will travel with team and be present at time of arrival and departure of team bus


The excessive , tracking of player's personal time I think is counter productive

Players should not be punished for personal reasons this targeting of Akmal Brothers has been happening for quite a few years in Pakistani Cricket

• I hope Umar Akmal appeals the decision and challenges it in court of law

Selectors should focus on player's Athletic capabilities and sports skills , and not be concerned with the private life of a athlete

The matter is very simple , Ukmal attened a recent trial , the training deemed him fat , and Umar Akmal took off his shirt and showed him his fit body , muslce and doola. Stating he is fully fit to play at Top level

The Fat Trainer of Pakistani Cricket team took it personally that the young guy was showing off his muscles and mocking his judgement so the old goons of Pakistani Cricket decided to make a example out of Umar Akmal

Immediately after this event within few weeks he was deemed unfit due to corruption

The overlooking of Kamran Akmal after steller performances in PSL , was a noticable trend , and now what has happened to the Younger brother show cases some internal force in PCB is actively keeping them out of Pakistan's cricket scene

They way this young cricketer was subjected to odd treatment is seriously a bad omen for any circket fan

breaking rules are celebrated as an achievement with a shupid grin on the face

like look I came late, look I went the wrong way of the road, look I broke signal, look I disclosed classified information etc.
