Sending financial aid is just a waste of money, it will just end up in those corrupt officials' pockets. And didn't that foul mouthed Pinoy crying out loud he does not want China to help his country? He should blame his leaders for accepting the money then.

Nowadays, our new generation may not have witnessed the struggles and sacrifices of war but we have fully benefited the freedom from it. Luckily living in peace, somehow we have forgotten how to preserve what we all have: the environment. This ecology demands our understanding and respect. The massive destruction of the typhoon Haiyan in Philippines has again validated this alert.

The corruption isn't on any of the aid -- our government steals from us not from you. One of the stories you even linked reflects that -- it was before the storm's damage was apparent and the most important news in the country was about a pork barrel scandal. Most of those stories aren't talking about our government officials stealing donations, but about shoddy implementations of building codes and compliance inspections due to bribery by contractors and developers. The rest are about the general climate of of corruption making aid donors wary. That's not what they should be worried about though, because the worst that a Filipino officials will do is slap stickers on the food packages with their names on it as a brazen way to campaign for re-election, not hide well-meaning foreigners money in bank accounts.
