ISLAMABAD: Softer and positive aspects of the Pakistani society and the national ethos were needed to be promoted and disseminated across the globe.

This was stated by Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage while chairing a meeting on 70th years Independence Day celebrations: Overseas component here Friday.

She said that the image of any country emanated from its culture, heritage and tourism, adding that Pakistan was a land of splendor comprising deserts, mountains, glaciers, sprawling meadows, lush green grasslands and sea. Marriyum said that each region of the country had its own peculiar characteristics.

She emphasized the need to showcase the multicultural mosaic of the Pakistani society and its geographical diversity at the international forums to present true picture of Pakistan to the international fraternity.

The minister said that promoting and building image of Pakistan was one of the prime responsibilities of Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, for which special funds were allocated by the government. She said that the Ministry under the guidance and vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was working hard on the revival of film industry in Pakistan as the movies and cinemas, due to their extensive social outreach, were the powerful mediums in regards to promoting cultural landscape of Pakistan within and outside the country.

The meeting reviewed progress regarding preparations for the 70th Independence Day celebrations with special emphasis on its publicity aspect at the global level.

Tariq Azeem, Pakistani High Commissioner to Canada who was present in the meeting, said that the people and places of Pakistan should be promoted through various publicity materials including documentaries and short films.

He also sought ministry’s assistance in organizing cultural events in Ottawa for the projection of softer image of Pakistan.

Marriyum Aurangzeb assured her full support and assistance in this regard and directed the concerned departments for effective coordination and liaison with the Pakistan High Commission in Canada for arranging the transmission of the required publicity material to the mission.

The minister that exhibition of Pakistani cultural heritage at Canada in connection with 70th anniversary would prove to be a landmark event in promoting softer and better image of Pakistan abroad.

Minister of State emphasized the need for engaging Pakistani community in Canada to make these events a resounding success. She also directed Pakistan Television Corporation and Radio Pakistan to use their archives to generate thematic content besides producing short movies and documentaries which reflect and promote softer and real image of Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by Tariq Azeem, Pakistani High Commissioner to Canada, DG External Publicity Wing, Ministry of IBNH, DG Internal Publicity Wing, Principal Information Officer, Press Information Department and other senior officials of Ministry of IBNH. – APP

You obviously have no idea about this subject! But yet people like you would love to write negativity on things that are actually super critical.

There is an English saying "perception is reality". That literally applies here in this case of Pakistan. Is India really a land of the smartest where as it seems, the top education exists and everyone's brain is about ten times the capacity of all other nations combined? Hell no! Is China really the most profitable place to invest and they, at this point manufacture items as small as a hair pin to as large as jets and ships for the entire globe? How did it happen in both India and China's case when India, till date has many problems internally like Pakistan does?

Both these nations decided 20 some years ago that they'd start to project a softer image of their countries abroad. The nation followed that vision. Take a look at the Indian media, standing right behind whoever governs India. An actor gets stopped like the rest of the world at a US airport and the entire India write online petition to the state dept, to US diplomats and wake up the. Sec. Of State for intervention. All on a small thing!!! See the image power, aka the brand power?

Do you know the most billions in the business world are spent only on creating a better image? Imagine Audi, Mercedes, NBC, Microsoft, Google, Indian peaceful culture and IT, Chinese peaceful nation for 6000 years and the ability to manufacture everything for 20% of the cost and in less than 50% of the time compared to anywhere else!

There is a a Wall Street saying "buy at rumor, sell at news. Think about this, rumor is that soft image that made people buy shares of Google when it was worth a few dollars. Now it's close to $1000 per share. Same with Amazon and Indian IT, Chinese manufacturing. Turkish economic growth, Malaysian economic growth, etc, etc. Image is everything.

Note in all cases above, either the image is softer as is (German cars and Germany as a country) or the world peaceful is pronounced so much in India and China's case that the investors get ready to invest just hearing this anthem for so long. Image is everything. What happens inside your house, it's no one's business. But what puts you in news, is everyone's business and the softer the news image is, the better branding and growth potential.

Take a look at growing stock market and other range of future investments, all because some have started to see a softer, more democratic and systematic future of Pakistan.

It's really sad to see how many of you just write utter nonsense on issues that would make your own homeland look better, thus even helping your own standing in the West. I read a survey on Amerfican business man, outside of American, the next preffered group they want to do business with is India and China. All because of their branding for two decades!!

Bill Gates till date reviews and tests every major software MSFT comes up with. Trump reviews every single executive decision whether on trade, a car company sending a few jobs o Mexico, etc, etc. Why? There is always one leader, one man with a vision that people around him buy from him and work for him to implement. He doesn't need to be in every meeting. But he needs to be involved with every major decision regarding his vision. Trump, Modi, etc, all came up with a vision, their staff, ministers, secretaries are hired by them to fulfill their promises done to people and to implement the vision the votes came in for. Why would it be any different in Pakistan's case?

Believe me if india was doing half the things pakistan does , we would be crucified by the international media.
You cant have a soft image if you hang 150 people in a years time through dubious military courts. We hanged one guy in 2011 and the protests are still on.
If terror groups openly canvass for funds and hold massive rallies in your capital.
If your army chief does the job of your non existent foreign minister.
If you cant host a 20 20 tournament in your own country.
If your leaders threaten to use a nuclear device at the drop of a hat. They sound mental to the world.
If your polio workers are regularly shot.
If your census workers are regularly shot.
So you can guess where i am going.
