People’s Liberation Army of Manipur, the oldest and one of the most powerful rebel outfits of India, in its 34th anniversary last month has called for a united fight by all the insurgent groups for a sovereign Northeast. Photographs of the meeting of smartly turned out rebels held in an undisclosed forest of Manipur showed that the government has no writ in some parts of the state.
PLA, the armed wing of the Revolutionary Peoples’ Front (RPF), which has been waging a bloody war against India, has again rejected the government offer for negotiated settlement under the framework of the Indian Constitution. PLA chief Irengbam Chaoren made a passionate call upon some 33 groups of insurgents including ULFA. The call reflected the suggestion of its mentor in Beijing who viewed they could achieve independence fighting separately.

Knowing that the major insurgents groups have bases along the Myanmar border the Indian government was trying in vain to put up joint efforts with Myanmar to flush out the insurgents from the safe sanctuaries. MY point of these thread is not bashing India but the fact that GOI suppress news regarding how volatile NE is and the possible human rights violation taking place there by the security forces. The Indian media even though free plays an active part in keeping it low profile like this news here, I didn't find any Indian news paper or for that matter any intl. news outlets reporting it.
