Stop unleash these racist remarks. If you have hide in your heart don't spill it over the board.

ahahaahahahahaha.......... You are talking to a wall. Having been/lived in Asia for a while, i can tell you asians in general really hate each other to the core(especially among rival countries) and tend to be very emotional when it concerns history/territorial disputes. Historical greviances in Asia is sure a complicated matter I dont envy the U.S maintaining stability in this region at all, aint easy.
So yes the filipinos will keep on despising the ethnic chinese minorities regardless of whatever others might think.:agree: Not just the philippines, but you can also see it in Malaysia, Vietnam and even Indonesia(to a lesser extent). Expect it to continue.:D

I would attribute this to a lingering xenophobia of an old culture. I personally wish this aspect amongst Asian societies would dissipate. We can learn much from the West.

Yes you can wish, But many have wised for decades now, nothing has changed, i would say it even got worse.
Just look at some filipinos here justifying their racism against the ethnic Chinese, even though i noticed you tried to indirectly calm them down and talk sense to them yet they rejected that.lool Thats one reason i admire and tend to like discussing with you Nihonji and some few members like Chinese Dragon and Leveragedbuyout. Because you seem to be one of the few members on here who is humble, reasonable, tolerant and make constructive arguments even when i disagree with you.:D:P. You have almost been polite/cautious in your comments here. Keep it up, because of you i havent lost all hope for Asians, maybe one day they will change and be more like us in the west.

Yes its second only to middle easterners.
Well Asia being more advance/developed than the middle east should do much more better than that i believe.:agree:

Konnichiwa Michael-San,

It is, indeed, unfortunate that Asian societies harbors this distrust for those outside the cultural norm and I'm not generalizing this aspect to merely East Asian societies, but also to Asian societies in general. If we think about it the continent of Asia is vast and so large that includes hundreds of ethnicities, languages and races. In fact, 2/3rds of the entire planet's population live inside Asia. I think due to the variance of cultural and linguistic differences, not to mention the religious differences -- can and do result in clashes. When the word 'Asia' comes to fore , one thinks of 'multicultural', 'multiracial', a hodgepodge of identities. To be quite honest with you, I really doubt the possibility of the creation of an 'Asian Union' such as the European Union. There are too many interests at stake with varying allegiances as well as some power(s) who have hegemonic designs, which will prevent the cooperation of all the players in this region. It is a shame because I actually would want a creation of such a union. Unfortunately for us who live in the real time, we need to divorce fantasy from reality.

Thank you for your kind words, Michael-San, and I do enjoy our conversations together. I always learn something from you and look forward to more interaction throughout this forum. You take care.

If the local Chinese community here have not screwed the economy of the country by preferring the 60/40 economic restriction, distrust against the the Fil-Chinese wouldn't have not worsened but no, they prefer the old system where they are always on the top, no FDI means less economic opportunities in this country, leading to many to simply get out of the PH just to find jobs in other countries that some locals would not want to take (specifically the domestic helper jobs) and that some of the local Chinese are unwilling to integrate with the PH society and would rather stay in their own enclaves.

may I ask why you keep insisting on calling them chinese, what makes them chinese. They are not Chinese, stop calling them Chinese. They are Filipinnos and your problem, not ours.

I understand if it was first or second or even third, but they are so far down the line that they are no more Chinese than Obama.

There are some Fil-Chinese here in the Philippines that do not want to be associated with either Filipinos or mainland Chinese but prefers to call themselves Chinese due to their ethnicity.

It is inevetible that there will be some ethnocentrism, pare. Don't take it too personal. If my tagalog skills serve me right, "wag ka ma sakit sa puso mo" (??)

It is only natural that some groups will have some aversion to other ethnicities, I'm sure that there will be some Filipinos who are of chinese decent who will look down on non-chinese Filipinos. But let us hope that that is only a minority case.

There is the term "Tsinoy" while Filipinos call them "Intsik" but the latter is offensive for the local Fil-Chinese for some reason, or if they want to, they can revived to old Spanish terms for them which is "Sangley."

Tama ka dyan. :)

Well, my negative views of the Chinese are too personal considering it involves my family...

However, the negative views by some common Filipinos towards the local Chinese already existed but was not bad until the 90s, particularly with the kidnappings of rich Tsinoys which were often heard in local news during that decade, the fact that most richest Tsinoys are against the idea of fully opening the country to FDIs to lessen the dependence on the OFWs and the current territorial disputes.
