What's new

Man posts response after being rejected by the military. This is priceless

They dont hence my question why are 18 yr old kids used as lab rats??
Yes they do, when wars come.
In fact you choose your profession at 18 (plus minus 2 or 3). You go to medical or engineering university at that age or any other educational field (business, IT etc) and come out as expert in 5 6 years.
So technically its not only army. Its overall in professional fields.

Yes but it is only in the army where they get you to do practical at the age of 18 with only theories to rely on ....while you dont do surgery on a real human until you are some years into medical and same case for engineer...you dont get your projects in 1st of BSc/ B.eng

So it isnt every field....and it shouldnt be in a field where you life can be at stake and that the working environment is a war

May be bcoz the attitude is moldable at 18 but not so at 35.
Or maybe coz an 18 yr old is more of a Yes sir without questions on moral issues than a 35 yr old who would have some experience in the dept!

Docs in civil also don't operate just after MBBS or MS. Capts in Engineering corps do get projects.
My cousin, a capt. has already taken part in Waziristan, so theory plus practical experience.

And one more thing. At 35 how a person having already successful career will be ready to restart his life ? so what will be choice for army at 35 ? boys who ran away from schools ?

See and you are not 18 when you finish MBBS....you are older....more experienced as you have been to an institute where you dont hear constant shouting and need to reply in shouting - since thread is about America....Kids in America dont even get shouted at...

Is he 18?

You dont become Capt overnight...

lolz...BUT it is fine to enroll 18 yr olds who havent seen the meaning of life?

As for boys running away from school - sure at least they get some form of roof, benefits and food which their high school drop out education wont earn them!

At 18, Medical Corps Cadets are same and enjoying as any other medical student. After completing basic medical education they go to military academy. So there starts actually real shouting.
(I dont know if there is any army medical institute in US or they take Docs into service :undecided: )

No he is not 18. But how come American kids of 18 are not used to shouting? If he will not go to uni he will be a gangster and will be shouting at other kids or heavy duty gangster will be shouting at him

Here I agree. Good for early school leavers. But hopefully they will leave army too.

Most western kids cant be shouted at they can easily call social services and get their parents in trouble....At least in UK it is the case not sure how stern they are in USA...

So they dont face war scenario until they are matured abit while soldiers go in at 18 and get mentally scarred for life!

So much typing speed :o:

I believe in US they have different culture. Have worked with US army in Germany though never been in US till now.

It is much more difficult to exert authority over, a let's say 50 (or 30+ for that matter) year old man, than an 18 year old. Additionally, i would say a cult of persona of a commanding officer is much more difficult to build with old(er) people who have seen a bit.
This cult of persona is needed when you advance into live fire ie battle. It is easier to receive a command that might potentially endanger or end your life from someone you look up to and perhaps aspire to become one day. Old people, again, who have seen it already, aren't so easily "amused".

Hmm...basically today the young guys do the legwork while the older guys sit on their butts flying the drones.

Yea thats what I thought...though it might be cheaper in the long run to make the kids do the drone flying - might give them a taste of what the battle field looks like and work those over weighted old men (old here basically means 25 and above)

Unfortunately flying drones is rather boring. Nobody joins the Air Force to be a pilot who sits behind a computer screen all day. However after they get older they will be more happy sitting in a nice A/C room with all the coffee and donuts within reach.
