10-year-old maid beaten up to ?free her of djinns? – The Express Tribune

This is not an isolated incident, the way maids are treated is horrible.

All you need in the life is 'aqal (Wisdom)'. Moral and virtuous people don’t need fear of God to differentiate between right and wrong, These values arise from our conscience, which represents the values our parents put in us.

Disgusting. It's a shame we've degraded our society, I blame our Governments over the years and the way we've developed our education system. We simply don't have enough concentration on nationalism in the country. We need to be more forthcoming in this regard, we need to preach what the Quad said. Women are our equals, we need to bring forward the roles they have played in our wars, our struggle to become a nation and how they, the women have raised every man in our country. Ofcourse, women are not maids, but I'm critizing how Pakistan doesn't publicize the role of women better.

We need to clear this tribal, non Islamic opinion we have of women. We need to put this in our textbooks, how women have shaped our nation. We need more women-based programmes on TV, not those dramas, but something of a more serious nature.

I really hope Zardari can get off his *** about this and enforce and make damn Women's Rights laws.

Out of curiosity, is there a women's rights group in Pakistan? There is one in the UK, deals with things such as this with a high level of media attention, and is more of a social group for women. Feminism needs to rise in Pakistan, women need more reprsentation, a stronger voice.

It's shocking how bad we treat our women. A lot of Pakistanis supported PPP and Benazir yet treated their wives bad, such hypocrits.

Unlike in England or Australia, where it is largely a regulated activity in the hands of stock-market quoted corporations, betting remains the preserve of the underworld in the subcontinent. Millions of rupees are staked on each game, often on specific deliveries, the sort of spot betting that is not offered by British bookmakers because of its potential for corruption.
Pakistan cricket scandal: kidnapping and violence enforce gambling scams | Sport | The Guardian

LAHORE: The number of gambling dens in the city has increased extensively, as the police have no time to check the illegal activity because they are more focused on preventing and protecting citizens from the fallout of terrorist attacks.

However, more than 18,000 people find the time to place their bets in 821 ‘not-so-secret’ gambling dens in the city every day, police sources said. These gambling points receive bets on cricket matches, derbies, card games and snooker.

Over Rs 120 million change hands every day at these gambling dens, and the amount multiplies enormously during cricket matches played by the Pakistani cricket team, which is the bookies’ most favourite game, as it receives the highest bets. These dens are located in different houses and apartments across the city.

Blaming the govt is the easy way out as always. A responsible society is formed out of its own citizens and inculcating good behavior in its citizens has to be a collective effort of the society as a whole. Another important factor the education system. This is where the responsibility of the govt becomes even more important where a just and "unified" education system is enforced in the country.

Hope the women's rights activists take up this case to demand the authorities to intervene.

the acused should be given the death sentence, this is child molestation .

Yes!!! Send out the posse and lynch him to the nearest tree or shrub!!! Bhai, irrespective of the nature, a crime is a crime and needs to be proven first and then punishment awarded according to the law of the land.
