ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister, Rehman Malik on Saturday said that Pakistan had accepted the apology with regard to violation of Pakistan’s airspace by NATO and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). He urged the international community to acknowledge role of Pakistan in the war against terrorism.

He said this while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the National Police Martyrs’ Monument at Police Line Headquarters, Islamabad.

The Minister’s statement came after US Ambassador in Pakistan, Anne W Patterson had tendered an apology to Pakistan on behalf of the US for violating the country’s airspace by NATO helicopters based in Afghanistan. NATO helicopters had carried out a series of airstrikes inside Pakistan and had also hit Frontier Corps (FC) check post, killing its three personnel.

The Minister urged NATO forces to acknowledge the sacrifices of Pakistan to restore peace in the world, adding that these forces had been given the mandate to fight the common enemy of humanity.
The Minister at the same time vowed that their determination was firm to fight the war against terrorism despite the fact that they had suffered a lot, adding that Pakistan would not allow anyone to use its territory.

Rehman Malik said that they treated mother of Fazal Ullah, chief of Swat-based Taliban, with respect during detention, but in returned the militants killed innocent people and humiliated women.

He appreciated the role of Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies in war against terrorism and said their sacrifices would be remembered forever. He also thanked Wafaq-ul-Madaris and Tanzeem-ul-Madaris for terming suicide attacks forbidden in Islam.

He said those who were targeting shrines, mosques, schools, colleges could not be Muslims and they would not be spared.

“More than 18oo security personnel including officials of Islamabad Police, Federal Investigation Agency, Motorway and Railways Police, provincial police organisations, AJK Police and Gilgit-Baltistan Police had laid down their lives in the line of duty”, he added.

Has US / NATO compensated the family of victims for their loss of bread winner?

The Government has already decided to reopen the route.I guess it's already back on track.

R.I.P. to the brave soldiers ,they were guarding our land.So it's ours responsibility. No compensation will be enough to replace the loss of life.We won't beg for compensation.
