Would the eateries be open? and what about non-muslim Maldivians?

In London once, I had lunch at a Muslim restaurant during ramadan and the chef kept asking me to taste food they were preparing for that evening. I didn't complain.

isis is a terrorist organization while Maldives is a lawful country who has a penal code which is if violated one would be fined simple as that.

You can not compare terrorists with a normal lawful country.

Above kids are exempted from fasting. Only adults are supposed to keep a fast. ANd still there is NO physical punishment in Quran for those adults who do not want to or who do not fast.

If an adult does not fast he or she is supposed to feed the poor and those who can not afford to feed they are free to compensate it by fasting in some oher month. Still if they do bot fast well they are free not to

Religion should be a choice forcing anyone to be religious makes absolutely no sense. It should come from true intentions rather than being forced. God wants you to do these religious obligation out of faith and not out of force/fear from your fellow human beings.

Stupid law, you can't force someone to be religious. If you try to force a belief down people's throat eventually they will rebel against it. Religion is a choice...really bad law.

You break the law of the country you are fined .

they violated the article 88 (a) of the 1968 penal code.

Being hauled up on ' suspicion' of eating seems far fetched.

Further discussion will be futile as I don't believe in shoving down the religious doctrine in others throat ..... My WISDOM would prevail to let me choose my path not just in understanding my own religion but also the every aspect of my life n I must be given free will to adapt accordingly..... Rest you can quarantine your wisdom for the book's codes ....

Actually i was being thought in mosque that forcing someone to be religious is a sin since it wont be true faith.
