TAXILA: Chief of Defence Forces of Maldives Maj-Gen Ahmed Shiyam on Tuesday called for cementing defense relations between Pakistan and Maldives.
He was visiting Pakistan Ordnance Factories Wah.
In his remarks in the visitors’ book, he said: “It is a profound honour to visit POF. It really raised our hopes and build confidence in our abilities”.
The delegation took keen interest in POF products and lauded its high quality.
The chief along with the other members of delegation also visited product display lounges as well as various production units where conventional arms and ammunition are being produced for ground, air and naval forces.
Earlier, upon arrival at POF Wah, he was received by POF Chief Lt-Gen Mohammad Ahsan Mahmood.
In the briefing he told to the Maldives defense delegation that POF was a premier defence organisation which was not only meeting defence requirement of the Armed Forces of Pakistan but also exporting its products to more than 30 countries around the globe.
Director Exports said that Pakistan and Maldives were enjoying deep-rooted defence ties since long which needs to be further strengthened.
POF is a gigantic complex with 14 directly controlled factories and plants, six subsidiaries and total workforce is more than 26,000.
POFs industrial base is strong enough to undertake development and production of all most all types of conventional arms and ammunition.
