Malaria drug hydroxychloroquine, touted by US President Donald Trump, was tied to increased risk of death in a study in 96,000 COVID-19 patients, according to a paper published in the Lancet.

According to Reuters, the study found that people treated with hydroxychloroquine, or the closely related drug chloroquine, had higher risk of in-hospital death when compared to those who had not been given the drug.

Hydroxychloroquine is basically a malaria treatment drug and was used in the hope that since it cures malaria fever, it will also cure Corona fever as well. However, it was proved wrong.

But, this kind of trial error is needed to invent drugs for any new disease. I have posted another news from China to the main Corona-19 section. It says human testing is successful. Let us hope for the best output from these efforts.

Trump"s anti-China stance is aimed at winning the next election in the USA that may backfire on his face. Some are buying his idiotic talks but most are not. I completely agree. Trump has completely lost touch with reality on this one and Americans are either dying or jobless because of it.
