Professional Forum KP to host Election Debate 2012, Provincial candidates to present their plans
PTI ELECTION DEBATE 2012 – FIRST POLITICAL EVENT OF ITS KIND IN PAKISTAN!
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is going to make history by becoming the first political party in Pakistan to introduce pre-election debate, on Saturday, 17th November, 2012 in Peshawar. It is a step towards creating real democracy and to add more democratic values in the party.
This unique event will give PTI members, a chance to hear what all the top PTI party candidates of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, between new and old faces, have to say about key policy issues and it will allow them to make a better informed choice on Election Day.
The event has been conceived and is being organised by the Professional Forum KP with the official patronage of the PTI Provincial Election Commission KP.
PTI wants a democracy where all voices are heard and seen to be heard. The desired outcome would be a knowledgeable electorate that will hold its leaders to account and turn up for the election and vote intelligently, in favour of better leadership.
EVENT SUMMARY: “PTI ELECTION DEBATE 2012” in Peshawar is the first of a series of events being organised by the Professional Forum on Saturday, Nov 17th 2012 under the patronage of Adv. Qazi Muhammad Anwar (Chief, Provincial Election Commissioner KP) & Prof Dr Mehr Taj Roghani (Convener PTI KP). Meanwhile, Adv. Hamid Khan would be the Chief Guest. In this event PTI members would be oriented about voting methods and how to cast a ‘smart vote’. PTI KP Newsletter would be launched, and information leaflets about voting method would be distributed. An orientation CD about the PTI election process would also be screened before the audience. Moreover, potential candidates would be given an opportunity to present their future vision within the framework of the party manifesto on specific subjects, with an open Q&A session - like western democracy styled debates, but within our own cultural context and keeping in view our own local dynamics - before a select gathering of relevant Electoral College/ public, media and monitoring observers. The process will give all leaders regardless of their backgrounds and resources, a level playing field.
