The Indian Express could not independently verify the same.
A Major General of the Indian Army is likely to face the court martial for allegedly molesting a captain at his residence, Mail Today reported on Monday.
According to the news daily, the major general, who was posted as the inspector general of Assam Rifles’ Northern Zone in Kohima, had called the captain to his residence to discuss the court martial matter of another officer. The incident took place on October 19.
“After the major general was done with the official work, he allegedly asked the captain to give him a parting kiss and forced himself on her to kiss her on cheeks and lips,” Mail Today reported, quoting from a document that’s part of the proceedings. The Indian Express could not independently verify the same, but the case has been confirmed to Mail Today by an Army spokesperson.
Mail Today reports that the Major General and his wife approached the complainant apologising and asking that she withdraw the complaint as “it would spoil his career of over 30 years in the army”. The woman officer has refused and wants the case to be completed.
The investigation is underway.
