Mahindra Thar outperforms the Jeep Wrangler in off-roading

The Thar is definitely impressive- but it must be kept it mind that the Jeep is a much heavier vehicle and is much more road worthy.
Still what a great performance by the Thar.

Models like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Patriot & Compass are meant to be road worthy but the wrangler is a pure bred off-roader and even the road worthy older Land/Range rovers beat em hands down in rough terrains

The current Wranglers are very road worthy cars man. Have driven the older 2 new gens and YJ/ TJ - the oldies are very unrefined and agricultural, But the new ones are much smoother and have way better dynamics. The rubicon is supposed to be the one for enthusiasts- the rest are Starbucks pick up vehicles for moms and daddy’s princesses.

The prices in India are ridiculous though.

Tried it, but had to go back to low and fast cars.
 
Both got its advantages.

The reason Thar outperforms Wrangler in climbs is the short wheelbase. Many Americans consider new Jeeps to be not Jeeps, which is why Mahindra will have a good run there. I expect Jeep to fall back to its roots to counter.

Thar might struggle against the Rubicon.
