Hi I was wondering on the status of the Mahindra axe. I have heard a lot about it, read army trials are going on and seen relevant pics to prove this. I was wondering if these trials have completed yet as I think they began in 2008, after a certain point nothing is mentioned, all is said is trails are being done/have been done. And if so has a winner been picked. Is the AXE in full production and if IA,IAF,IN picked it would it be in 10,000s + to replace all Gypsys or in limited numbers for specialised purposes? Just wondering really what's the hold up? another political reason? And why is the IAF and IN much more able to go for HUGE $$$$$ deals and IA gets left in the cold?

well it has run into engine problems is my best guess based on this report

At the beginning of the investigation, Ssangyong denied the allegation. The scandal also sparked controversy that SAIC took over the debt-ridden Korean company to "steal" expensive technologies Ssangyong had developed, and then threw the company away.

Hit by the protest, Ssangyong said it sustained 316 billion won in production losses. Ssangyong, whose product lineup is focused on sports utility vehicles (SUV), is reportedly negotiating with two or three foreigner investors for a possible sale.
