Come on, you are telling me legal and illegal encounter. lol.
Encounter is a euphemistic term used to describe cold blooded murder by policemen.
Majority of such encounter happens because police simply will not catch the criminal but rather try to kill him.
Have you not read about some businessmen killed in encounter due to mistaken identity?
You are wrong. Yes, there is a distinction between false encounters and real ones. And yes, false encounters are illegal, but actual encounters are part and parcel of the duties of any police force. They are trained and paid to do that. Yes, there may be cases of false encounters, and I have read a few, but that does not mean that all encounters are fake. Yes there may be cases of mistaken identity, but that does not mean every encounter is faked. Just like there have been false arrests, but that doesn't mean that arrests are themselves illegal. No, they are part of a policeman' duty.
That is why every police force in the US has SWAT teams, and most major police forces in India have encounter specialists. If you go back and read where the supreme courts have come down on heavily, you will notice that they came down heavily on "fake encounters", like the Ishrat Jahan or Sohrabudin case. They have not decried encounters in general. Go back and read those reports.
