How transparent you want us to get? You want us to tell you our deployment size like India?

'Not a propaganda state' level.

. .
. .
It is based on the Saryu class.

Pipavav NOPV is Pipavav shipyards design (developed with some Russian Agency) while Saryu is Goa Shipyard's own design.
thanks i would have imagined as there have already made 4 for the indian navy,

. .
Why do Lanka need Destroyers and frigates ??

Don't whine when we export Kolkata class to Vietnam
Bro, let me say this in a neutral tone, they are other better and cheaper ships than Kolkata and Vietnam can choose those. Your MIC is famous for jacking up foreign imports even to your own military, that's why they prefer to import direct.

Better and cheaper ships, lol. Butt hurt is evident.

And that's why Indian navy prefers indigenous shipbuilders.

I think they gave the Sri Lankan 'aid' so that they can buy this ship. The thing is except for the hull, everything seems to be imported, not sure about the steel tho. =)

The Alloy Steel used to build this OPV (if they used High quality Ship plate Alloy Steel - that is), came from one of Steel Authority of India Limited's (SAIL) plants which is a Govt. enterprise in India. These specialized units are decades old, in serious need of BMRE (Balancing, Modernization, Rehabilitation, Enhancement), huge loss makers and very inefficient because they are quite old.

The amount of staggering losses made in these plants is not least because of competition from competitively priced Chinese alloy steel.

SAIL wanted to dis-invest themselves of these units but can't, because no company in the world would be berserk enough to invest in these inefficient enterprises. SAIL's losses are becoming more staggering by the day.

There are three plants like this as shown above. Take a look at the inside of the Durgapur Alloy Steel plant, the last one in the list. Somewhat dark, dank and depressing....

No wonder they want to sell it. But buyers aren't materializing.....

Meanwhile there are massive demonstrations against dis-investment.

Why yes, but models only, the first one is still being fitted out (Superstructure).

God the ugly bangladeshis infected this thread too?

Did their womenfolk working in noida clamour for them to spew the butthurt wherever possible by whatever means?

Looked in the mirror lately?

That's why I say it's impossible an inefficient shipbuilding industry can produce cheaper than the Koreans or Chinese. This is military aid to appease the Sri Lankans.
