In India it seems the most popular are hatchbacks and the sub-4m sedan. I think there is some sort of tax reason behind opting for the 4m sedans as all major manufactuers in India make them specifically to this spec (TATA, Honda, VW, Maruti, Toyota etc).I wonder why Indian auto makers don't make mid-sized sedans? They do make compact sedans.
TATA back in 09 showed off a concept called, Prima(which btw is fantastic). This never materialized into a production model, however. TATA is just about making everything but a mid sized sedan.
Is this segment not popular in India? Because it's basically a must, flagship of most auto companies in the US.

But maybe in a few years TATA will start making market specifc models and for the US such a sedan as above could do well. This is a model many manufactuers have adopted like VW, Toyota, Nissan etc etc
Safari Storme and Xenon are looking pretty dated now (especially the Storme which is bascially a 20 or so year old design).TATA is making a pretty decent line up going.
Van/Crossover (Hexa)
SUV (Safari Storme)
Compact SUV (Nexon)
Pickup (Xexon)

Thumps up to TATA

Tata’s Honda City competition and the MPV plans are made on paper, however it is still a bit early to say if this product will see daylight. The sedan has been designed, but it still awaits confirmation for a complete go-ahead.
Tata Motors has plans to launch two new products every year and this could launched in 2018-19 along with the MPV. Tata has been developing an array of new engines and transmissions and these will be utilised by the brand for its upcoming range of products. The Nexon will be the first-one to get these new engines, which includes a mix of petrol and diesel engines.

Nothing beats the TATA Prima:Which of the two truck families do you prefer bro?
To a large degree yes, and are becoming increasingly so.Great progress, but are the engines on these pretty cars and trucks are indians 100%.
