In some houses, there is a leading male. In some houses, there is a leading female. I have seen both.

And no harm in seeking consent of a male family member for an important matter that may have implications for you and your family. I consult my wife and mother for a number of issues from time-to-time.

And quite often these restrictions prove very helpful in girls later life, If a girl ask his father about going alone for shopping he may ask which area which time because he knows better then girl that which area and which time is not safe and may be girls find it restriction but this is for their own safety.
