LAHORE - The Sunni Ittehad Council while announcing a long march from Data Darbar to Mazar Barri Imam against terrorism on October 16 have pledged that it will not sit silent till the arrest of terrorists who attacked the holy shrine of Hazrat Ali Hajveri (RA).
The leaders of the Council at the National Peace Conference at Data Darbar on Sunday said that the government or the political party talking about initiation of dialogue with the extremists were the enemy of Islam, Pakistan and the nation.
Sahibzada Fazal Kareem, Peer Syed Mazhar Saeed Kazmi, Peer Syed Riaz Hussain Shah, Haji Hanif Tayb, Peer Afzal Qadri, Sarwat Ijaz Qadri, Syed Safdar Shah and other leaders of Sunni organisations, heads of various shrines from various part of the country addressed while a large gathering attended the conference which was held on the occasion of Chehlum of Shuhada-e-Data Dardar.
Fazal Kareem, in his key address, said that now no reason was left to sit with the Punjab government which totally failed in arresting the culprits of Data Darbar incident, adding that the terrorist were also in coalition with the federal government. He said that Sunnis of the country would support and vote those who would be against the terrorists and their organisations. He said that terror was the biggest threat to the country. He said that “We admit that the drone attacks are killing innocents and were the cause of rising extremism in the country.” He demanded of the rulers to disarm the political and religious parties and to control what he said the growing terrorism in shape of religious parties and seminaries in the country. He announced the long march on October 16 after the all Pakistan Ulema Mashaikh Conference on August 26.

People are dying of hunger, disease, calamity has hit the nation and ramadan is coming up and these people are trying to score cheap political points. Mullah's will always be Mullah's.

I was thinking the very same thing. Just imagine the chaos? They should get all these people and volunteer them for the disaster effort, that would be a good way of showing your support for the nation in the time of need.

Good point, there is a possibility that the taliban will use this gathering to inflict damage. I hope it doesn't happen but when you are dealing with barbarians, you never know

I'd be very suprised if this march was well attended -- notice none of the political parties, particularly the ruling party seems interested - and also notice neither the Jamaat E Islami nor Ulema e Islam have sounded off -- the call to disarm the political and religious parties is significant, though not as significant as the lack of will by the governemnt to honor that call.

Guys remember last long march?

During those times TTP sucide army suppose to be in full strength but they did not hurt the march of restoration of iftikhar ch. but they did attack BB twice and scored while she was in billet proof car.

Moreover, TTP seems to have no issues with corrupt politicians but they are attacking girl schools, mosques and army convoys.

Don't we see TTP protect those who damage Pakistan and attack those who does not serve their purpose.

Its a good move, it will help world understand that every one who has a beard isn't a terrorist. And its a shame for us that We use Mullah in an abusive sense now a days just because we found a few ones on the wrong path.

What difference is left between us and non Muslims !! They call all the Muslims terrorists just because there are a few thousands terrorists using name of Islam out of 1.7Billion approx. Similarly we keep bashing all the Mullahs for the deeds of a few.

Molvi or Mullah is a word used to describe a person who has dedicated more of his life or life style to Allah but we have made it an Abuse just because a handfull out of thousands are not on the right path!!!!

That's seems to me to be rather unfair - it's not just a "few on the wrong path"- Recall that one courageous person spoke out against calling suicide bombing "Islamic" and he was murdered and we have not heard other voices doing the same. So, lets agree that it's a shame but we are not responsible for this; it is the Ulema themselves who are responsible for it and only they can fix this problem for themselves.
