A man, who had built an ultralight helicopter in his backyard along with his brother, will now lead a provincial project to build ultralight aircraft which will be used for tourism and rescue purposes.

Last year, Qazi Sajjad, a former air force employee from the Landi Arbab area of Peshawar, had gained fame after a video showing him build his helicopter from scavenged and repurposed parts became viral.

He has now been nominated by the provincial government as the research and development coordinator for local production of aircraft and helicopters.
Adviser to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister on Science and Information Technology (IT) Zia Bangash on Monday said that researchers, engineers, and scientists of the province will be facilitated in creating indigenous solutions.

The adviser disclosed this while addressing a meeting of local researchers.
He said that 60-year-old Sajjad had over four decades of expertise in the sector and had built helicopters and light aircraft together with his brother and nephews. Not only did he built them, but he also demonstrated their viability through successful flights, Bangash added

And that is really the key here. The guy built this in Pak inspite of the usual difficulties, his enthusiasm should be encouraged.

It takes guts of the next level to get into this aerial vehicle!! Don’t know how to rate this stuff, but as for the guts of the Pak folks, it’s an A+ with a wide margin......

but this is hardly anything to be proud of
government should give funding to universities to come up with a better product which could be mass produced which will have wind tunnel certification and also meeting all safety requirements

All journey's begin with a single step. Yes I agree with you that lots more can and should be done but someone has taken the first step, lets encourage that, and at the same time enable even better efforts.

bhai the first step is taken 100 years ago
now all u need is support someone
who is from a university or even armed forces who knows risks
can calculate all flight parameters
bring in experts from abroad
so u dont end up like the societal mess we already are
just because we have this jugaru mentality

it is a powered-hand glider........not a gyro-copter which is a different thing. People make these as hobbies and quite a few companies make these for recreational activities. That is what this person had done.

If you know your Hilal-e-Urdu, then remember the story of the king who was given "tar" (the thin long cucumber) as tribute by a poor farmer/subject. He refused to share it with the company and ate it all himself, complimented the farmer and sent him off with a small reward. When his company men asked why contrary to his nature he did not share the tribute, he replied that the "tar" was bitter and he did not want the farmer to be depressed by the faces or the words that might have been spoken. Take this message as the local government appreciating the efforts of a man who despite odds managed to achieve his dream.
