Same people: Ethnicity, history, culture, customs, language, religion, holidays, cuisine. Taiwan is just a southern province of China. It has local customs and certain dialects, just as Guangdong has. Taiwan local dialect is Fujian dialect. There is extremely small number of aborojines, but they are as mainstream as Ainu people in Japan.

I believe there are strong socio-cultural-economic ties, even under strained political climate across the Straits today. More TW young people go or plan to go and live in Mainland. More trade across the Straits. In fact, under Tsai, Taiwan's trade dependency on Mainland for exports has grown. There are lots of networks unseen to the uneducated eye.

But, perhaps, political issues are rather resistant. Also, Mainland China does not look like it is in a rish. It seems to be waiting ground changes to change perceptions.

Taiwanese people are pretty much Southern Fujianese Han Chinese. They literally speak the same language and that is where most Taiwanese came from.

Thanks to US meddling and the heavy funding of US NGO in Taiwan ROC and Hong Kong. Plenty of misunderstanding of between them and mainland China.

But China are slowly correcting these mistakes by banning those wolf in sheep skin NGO in Hong Kong.

That is one side. On the other hand, people in mainland China are brainwashed in the way that they would never understand people in Taiwan and Hong Kong, despite being the same people. One big reason why Chinese firmly believe in CCP is becos their lives improve. Changed really happened to them with the better. While Hong Konger suffer more misery with unattainable housing price out of reach for most. Many taiwanese youth difficult to get jobs as economy growth stall.

The NGO story of everything blaming mainland China will be easy to sell in these 2 places.

If their lives is miserable. No matter what nonsense, you can't brainwashed them all plus China is not North Korea where travel overseas and Interaction with outside world are restricted.

You have to admit , many ordinary life of Chinese have improved. It's a undeniable fact. Precisely my point NGO idea is easy to sell with Hong Kong housing woes. The British education model is still unchanged even after British left in 1997.
