Literacy rate jumps to 75%

NEW DELHI: India's effective literacy rate has recorded a 9.2 per cent rise to reach 74.04 per cent, according to provisional data of the 2011 census released Thursday.

Effective literacy rate in the 2001 census was 64.83, which improved to 74.04, said Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner C. Chandramauli.

Thats good news but we really need to revolutionize India with more access to computers....This is a key step to making India a superpower in this century.....it will bring ppl across all spectrums of society on an elevated platform. I don't understand why gov't didn't back Sibal with his proposal...even if it wasn;t perfect it was a first step that shoal be followed. Even the US, many colleagues of different races agreed that was quite a statement, and it would uplift ppl across all boards. But thanks to Babus they quietly buried it and we don;t even hear of the affordable notebook ever? Why?

We can even create an educational industry within our country with high standards that will be the envy of other nations...Come on India....think out of the box..
