AHMEDABAD: Eight lions were spotted on the streets of a Gujarat town late on Tuesday night in a video that caused some panic after it was circulated on WhatsApp.

The pride, including two cubs, was seen near a residential area of Junagadh town, around 300 km from Ahmedabad.

In a separate incident, a man was severely injured when three lions attacked him in the Amreli district, which is near the Gir region known for its lion population.

Forests officials said the man was attacked while he was grazing goats near his village. He was admitted to a hospital.

Three persons were killed in attacks by lions in the same area between March and May this year. A woman was also killed in the Gir Somnath district.

Because of protection measures by government, lion population has increased a lot and GIR is too small to accommodate all of them. People of the area are habituated to live with lions. No problem.

This is bound to happen when humans start encroaching wild animal's habitat. Lions live in prides.. & they need large area of land to survive! As the habitat shrinks, number of nomad lions will only grow further!

Some Wild animals have become used to City life but most of them eat meat of lowest levels . But I doubt if Lions will adjust like them

Thats a myth asiatic lion are no smaller than african lion, average weight difference is mere 5 to 10 kg . there was a purposal to relocate lions to kuno in MP but gujrat government is against the move ,i realy want them to relocate some as we might see a battle between lion & tiger for domination after 100 of years
