That wealth is in the form of company stocks which in turn is valued based on its products and services in the market place. Not really that different.

Even by that logic, comparing market cap to GDP is wrong. As you should know, equity is unrealized speculative asset. It can fluctuate wildly.

You can always measure the stock by its intrinsic value. Many investors do that.

GDP too can be measured by its intrinsic value, which is what PPP does. Nominal GDP value is speculative value.

PPP is the real measure of evaluating your GDP. Which is why even though your country has no foreign exchange reserve, it will not collapse. You still manage to get loans even though you are technically broke.

A company with the same financials as you will NEVER get any loan.

And yes, Apple did hit 3 Trillion $ evaluation briefly, but it fell to 2.99 Trillion $. India is now 3.1 Trillion $ in nominal terms.

Pakistan has to go into the IMF loan as its loan is pegged against getting finances from ADB, World Bank, and to draw money through Sukuk bonds and lots of other fin. deals, the reason a tiny 6 billion USD from IMF matters now(3 year prog.). Otherwise other fin. institutions will be restrained from dealing with Pak, one big reason.

GDP too can be measured by its intrinsic value, which is what PPP does. Nominal GDP value is speculative value.

It is even worse than comparing apples and oranges. At least apples and oranges are both fruits. Comparing asset and GDP is like comparing light year and light speed.
