Libyan rebel commander admits his fighters have al-Qaeda links

Another blunder for the US OF A. This is just hilarious.

Never mind every one has his share of blunders..
Saudis made blunder when they did not tackled Iranian arms ships going through red sea.

Well this is pretty much a PR disaster for NATO. A major crack in the black and white picture, they are trying to paint.

Gaddafi is still nuts though.

PR disaster is the Chinese threatening to sanction countries if they attended the noble peace prize and it back firing on them and they becoming the laughing stock of the world as usual . At times I don't know who is more clownish , the iranian or the Chinese regimes.

Besides the Chinese , pakistanis and few Indians here- the fact that majority in the Muslim world and world in general are for this, is a PR bonanza for the US. Let alone the fact that the opposition when becoming the ruling party will remember who came to their aid. Let alone the fact that when innocent Muslims get slaughtered by their own dictators... The US and NATO is whom they seek to come protect them and not other Arab countries.

this guy is saying very very big bullshit

so Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi is linked to Al Qaida and is in Derna but he has nothing to do with being a leader of CNT
he was in Afghanistan as djihadist salafist

it is not because one guy like this exists in Libya THAT it means all rebels are Al Qaida
pls wake up

I never claimed all rebels are Aq ...even if one small unit of the rebels are Aq it does mean Nato is fighting for the Aq hence assisting the Aq in someway or the other.

The West decline the Noble peace prize for Gandhi. Yet India continue to give the West so much respect. Who is the real clown.

It's France, Britain and the Arab League actually that pushed Obama into action. He was content to stand on the sidelines. Of course once the Rebels were smashed by Qaddafi then we would of heard people screaming where was the U.S. and why did they just stand and do nothing. Your damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Lol what does not giving the peace prize have to do with being the worlds village idiiot like your country? India or gandhi did not go making threats and a fool of themselves over it

Didn't stop you guys from sitting on the sidelines, in Rwanda. That took 6 month to play out. What's changed? During that 6 month many many Rwandan leaders went to Washington DC begging for help, and the response they were given in general and in particular by the then undersecretary of state was "America has no friends only interests, and there are no American interests in Rwanda"

I suspect this is what really separates the American response between Rwanda and Libya.

you make my point! People complain about the U.S. playing world policeman. Then those same people will complain about the U.S. not getting involved.

U.S. foreign policy changes over time depending on who is president. Normally Obama hasn't shown much back bone to make hard foreign policy decisions in a timely manner. This time it was pressure from other countries that spurred him to act. And why did other countries pressure the U.S. to act? because they lack the military assets to effectively carry out what they wanted to do.

Rwanda was the biggest failure of the Clinton administration and was like Iraq a different kind of stain on the US reputation. The US should have gone in period...

HOWEVER LOOK CHINA was sure to make plenty of money off it , just like with Libya.
in 1993 the government of Rwanda imported, from China, three quarters of a million dollars worth of machetes. This was enough for one new machete for every third male.

Machetes were used for many of the murders committed during the genocide.

China never misses an opportunity to make money off genocides ....

Thomas, Obama is NOT cowboy bush- the back bone he has is called his grey matter where he made a coalition that included even the Arab nations. in the end the so called crusaders sure showed up to save the Muslims/nations- as it has happened with overwhelming majority of such cases.

I didn't make your point actually. Please read with more care. I am positing that there is a double standard for whether America chooses to act or not for "humanitarian" reasons. There was nothing to gain for America in Rwanda (a humanitarian catastrophe, orders of magnitude to what happened in Libya) so it didn't act, there is something to gain in Libya there America does act (along with the french and UK, because they've long had interests in the region).
