Let's just not test nukes, Pakistan to India at UN

lol.. Let me tell you more funny thing.. What is more funny then bharat [mother of proxy war in region] whine everywhere about Pakistan.. when in reality she itself was the one who trained armed and funded mukti bahini terrorism against Pakistan when their was no taliban or let..

She armed, trained, funded LTTE when thier was no proxy war in region, now she act as biggest victim of terrorism...

Its a pity , you too had to follow the same path..

Reaffirming its support to the nuclear test ban treaty, Pakistan has told the UN General Assembly of its voluntary moratorium on nuclear testing since 1998 - despite compelling regional security dynamics - and offered to translate the unilateral moratorium into a bilateral arrangement with India.

"A nuclear test ban is a noble aim and a means to achieve nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation," Pakistani delegate Yasar Ammar told the 193-member assembly meeting on Wednesday that marked the International Day against Nuclear Tests. "Our commitment of not being the first to resume nuclear testing in our region also testifies our resolve to support the treaty's objectives and purposes," Ammar said.

He said that Pakistan had made several proposals for keeping South Asia free of nuclear weapons and missiles since 1974 when nuclear tests were introduced in the region, but none of them met a favourable response. "We have recently reiterated our willingness to translate the unilateral moratorium that we have been maintaining since 1998 into a bilateral arrangement on non-testing with India," the delegate said, while underscoring the need for balanced security environment in sensitive regions like South Asia.

"Formalisation of our proposal for a bilateral arrangement on non-testing with India will not only contribute towards strengthening regional stability but it will also further the global efforts aimed at eradication of nuclear tests," Ammar added. In addition to their perilous impacts on human health and environment, he said, nuclear tests aggravate regional and international tensions by jeopardising regional strategic stability and widening mistrust among states, leading to nuclear arms race. "These tests also eat up resources that could be diverted to development activities." Noting that this year's commemoration of International Day against Nuclear Tests coincides with the 20th anniversary of Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), he said that Pakistan had participated actively in the negotiations that led to the finalisation of the CTBT in the Conference on Disarmament. "We voted in favour of the CTBT when it was transmitted to New York for adoption in the UNGA in 1996."

It's not up to Pakistan. We will test nuke or not it's our wish

India will test it nuke for the last time. When we are self sufficient in Defence economy etc... May be after 2020

Funny thing is that India will test its high yield nuke and Pakistan will reciprocate. Both with will be hammered with sanctions. But India will sail thru it but Pakistan will cripple it's economy for decades

I think India should take this offer seriously. It's Pakistan, not India, that is developing new nuke weapon types and stands the most to lose, right?

I don't think..it's a good suggestion at all...i mean why Pak...does not want to test more nuclear missiles...when it's the most important weapon in our arsenal....I am not sure if this ban is applied...will we be able to conduct our test of SLCM or not...and it will put a limit on our abilities....as we will not be able to test any improved versions in future...this is a completely absurd idea

You know everything about India & Pakistan's nuke program ? No one knew of a nuclear city been built by India before 2016, our system has maintained lot of secrecy regarding nuclear program. Pakistan may develop tactical nukes but we know it is of no use, but if used then they also know of something called strategic nukes, it can convert whole lahore or karachi into a graveyard.

India's thermonuclear test was failure according to Indian nuclear scientists.. so India need more testing..

The government on Thursday strongly refuted claims that the 1998 test of a thermonuclear device had been a failure, with Principal Scientific Adviser R. Chidambaram telling The Hindu that those questioning the tests yield had an obligation to back up their charge with scientific evidence.

“If Mr. Santhanam has any scientific data to back up what he has claimed, I am sure BARC scientists would be more than happy to debate it,” said Dr. Chidambaram. “Without that, this kind of statement means nothing.”

On nuclear matter, India would not like to be clubbed with Pakistan. In the first place Indian nukes are meant for China. Unless China agrees for some kind of moratorium, India would not follow and unless India does, Pakistan will not follow. So the proposal is a non starter.

We did not build nukes for Pakistan. The sooner they realise it the better. We built it when US threatened us to bomb us. Now its there for China.

Infact clubbing ourselves with Pakistan will be India's mistake from now on.

If Pakistan do not want to test the nuke weapons they can sigh ctbt.

There is no arms race in South Asia, India has its own strategic interests which stretch beyond South Asia.

The world recognizes the terror proxy threat and jihadi nukes, one cannot try to malign a peace loving nation when your nation itself became radicalized and posing a terror and nuclear threat to world peace.

It was not a failure. If it was India would have tested by now. Thats enough. All our TN weapons are of 200 kt yield.

India does not need TN and atom bomb to checkmate Pakistan, why should we bother about Pakistan?
