LCA Tejas to be inducted in Air Force in 2012: DRDO Chief

So far BVR-LGB trail is pending, they are going to do next round of trails in May-June. Hope everything will work as expected.

By this year end, it should be ready for induction.

LGBs were tested, I think BVR and in this case Derby is still left for integration and testing. However, that can be done after induction into operational service too, so shouldn't be an issue unless IAF keeps the policy to induct a fully capable LCA only.

Saraswat says that all problems encountered by the IAF during the IOC last year have been solved, which seems odd as one of the main problems was the AoA which afaik still remains unsolved. Maybe he means that the LSP 7 & 8 will be handed over to the IAF for user trials this year.

AoA was never a real issue, goal was 24°, IOC achived 22° and with the new FCS they even expect 26 to 28° if I remember correctly. LSP 6 should do the new set of AoA tests to finally deal with this issue, but the bigger problem were drag and weight. To achieve the speed, TWR and manouverability goals, there is no other option than integrating a more powerful engine, unless they find a way to dramatically reduce the weight of MK1, which doesn't seem to be possible.

I think we only tested for weapon release from LCA only in case of bombs. Now they might test even using Elta 2032 too for target identification. In case of BVR/WVR missile too, we only tested weapon release....and it was fine. We released R-73 (103 kg), even Derby (113 kg) will not be an issue for it(as in case of weapon release) Then it is the case of Elta 2032-Derby coordination for target homing which is compatible for each other. In nutshell, BVR/WVR missile integration wont be a problem. IAF user trail team will test it later for efficiency not the ADA team.

Even we do not go to make a war time doctrine for LCA too for now, as our Bisons can be replaced with LCA along with MKI/M2k.

I feel we need another Iaf seal on LCA to get the same rolling like Arjun..!!

india insists on being an aircraft zoo..
how many different type of planes IAF needs..
why insist on LCA when they are buying MMRCA and that russian PAKFA?

.
you are funny, if we dont have LCA , you say you have no indigenous capacity.

if we have it, you make very childish comments.

a wide variety will only help us achieve a spectrum of strategic goals.

dont worry you will get to know when the "zoo" is unleashed.

peace.

@ Topic : Lets hope for the best for LCA to finish FOC and induction to start from this year itself !

Why insist on ranting off aimlessly without any research ?

There are certain categories of aircrafts in every AF's inventory ...

-- Point Interceptors ( Mig-21 )
-- Air Superiority Fighters ( Su-30 MKI , Mig-29 )
-- Ground Attack fighters ( Jaguars )
-- Multi-Role ( Mirage , MMRCA )

LCA Tejas comes in the first category , as a replacement for the Bisons ..

Sunday trolling fever much , eh ?
