Because we are a Judeo Christian country. Israel, its well being and its lands are sacred to majority of Americans.

I personally like the fact that they are our base in middle east, and they are damn good as a military. Not fan of Bibi myself.

The US feels it would be in our best national/defense interests if we were more chummy with Israel than Russia.

Keep in mind lots of the Russian brain drain were Jews who moved from Russia to Israel. That's a coup for the West. However If Israel starts leaning toward being a Russian technology/military supplier that would be a costly mistake for the US. So we keep them happy.
