ISLAMABAD: The latest Gallup survey shows President Asif Ali Zardari has hit an all-time low popularity with minus/negative 52 percent net rating while 87 percent of the people of Pakistan believe that the country is heading in the wrong direction.

The survey also concludes that the electoral prospects of the ruling PPP and its coalition partners are very poor as against the PML-N and the PTI, which have 13 percent and 17 percent additional intentional voters in 2012 as compared to what they bagged in the 2008 election and emerge as the top two leading parties of the country.

The survey, which according to Ijaz Shafi Gillani is a confidential document and has not been made public but has been made available to The News by a source, shows the PPP getting down from 31 percent actual vote in 2008 to 21 percent voting intentions in 2012 survey of the Gallup, meaning thereby that it has lost 10 percent of its vote during the last four-and-a-half years.

The survey, the report of which is dated July 20, 2012 but it was conducted in February 2012, shows that the PML-N, which bagged 20 percent of the total votes in 2008 elections, has the support of 33 percent intentional voters in 2012.

The PTI, which did not take part in the 2008 elections and thus did not get any vote, enjoys the support of 17 percent intentional voters in 2012. The PPP allies — MQM, ANP, JUI-F and PML-Q — according to the survey got 35 percent votes in 2008 but saw an exceptional slide with only 14 percent intentional voters in 2012. The respondents were asked: “If national election were held today, which party would you vote for? (PPP, PTI, MQM, JI, PML-N, PML-Q, others)

According to the survey report, in Punjab PML-N leads with 44 percent intentional votes, followed by PTI’s 21 percent. The PPP has only 12 percent votes whereas its allies have only six percent intentional voters in 2012.

Sindh continues to be PPP strength with 47 percent voters as against 42 percent in 2012 whereas PTI has six percent and PML-N has five percent voters in Sindh. Karachi continues to be the stronghold of PPP allies (mainly MQM) with 37 percent voters followed by PTI’s 18 percent votes.

Like Punjab, according to the survey, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also belongs to the PML-N and the PTI with 42 percent and 25 percent intentional voters. The PPP allies (mainly the ruling ANP) have merely 23 percent voters now in the province.

Like Sindh, Balochistan belongs to the PPP with 32 percent voters followed by its allies (mainly JUI and PML-Q) having 26 percent support.
All Pakistan voting intentions report shows the PML-N and PTI sharing the majority with 32 percent and 21 percent, respectively, while Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also belong to PML-N and PTI; Sindh goes to PPP and MQM whereas Balochistan is led by PPP and its allies.

About the net performance ratings, it shows that people of Pakistan have lost interest in the president as well as the prime minister. The net performance ratings of the president have slid from negative 4 (-4) to negative 52 (-52) in February 2012 when Yusuf Raza Gilani was the prime minister. Gilani’s net performance rating in 2008 was 26 percent but he came down to negative 40 percent (-40 percent).

About the net performance rating of the PPP government, the survey shows it is negative 56 percent (-56 percent) in 2012.The survey also shows that the vast majority of Pakistanis believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction and that their economic prospects will get worse next year. According to the survey, 87 percent of the people believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction whereas 52 percent fear worse economic prospects next year.Commenting on the story, a PPP member said that the surveys of this kind are worthless as demonstrated by PPP’s victory in recent by-elections in different parts of the country.

.
hope pmln trollers can relieve after this survey lol.

.
Isin't this survey disapproving its own findings of few months back? PTI was ahead in Baluchistan and KPK while 8 degrees behind PMLN in Punjab?

.
PPPP have some intact voters, still capable of 40-60 seats.. PMLN have lost many voters even they will struggle in Punjab.
PTI got many voters and same as huge silence support as PPPP does. PTI will cruise from KP, Baluchistan and good seats in Punjab and few in Sindh.
MQM voters are decreased due to Karachi violence but still they are capable for 10-12 seats.

lol typical pti worker,

you have good rating what more you can expect for immature PTI?

What PTI needs to do is to win majority in KPK or Balouchistan and if require form alliance with PML-N in these provinces, impress people with your performance and then dream for big setup.

Phir ye waderay, jageerdaar ooper aagai. What happen in Punjab? how PMLN have such high vote bank? Most people from Punjab here at PDF says they support PTI but this survey says otherwise? I was expecting atleast 64% voters for PTI from Punjab.

I hope Pakistanis will use brain & not elect these waderas again.

.
all depends on near election compaign
