Do you mean only mutations of oncogenes cause cancer and that pollution ,diet and lifestyle have nothing to do with it???
These factors are the impetus to mutations in the so called oncogenes isnt it???

u r right....

actually ,at cellular level there r growth promoters n growth suppressors,normaly there is a balance between them......mutated promoters(i.e. it becomes activated) or mutated suppressors(becomes deactivated) become oncogenes....this mutation may be caused by carcinogens....

I'd like know the names of those cancer hospitals, coz Wikipedia gives something strange results about biggest one in northern India, not sure about southern India.

pura yaad nahi hai isliye nahi bata paunga.........but for example.....HPV,HBV,HCV cause cancer n they r viruses....

I did read that viral infections cause these oncogenes to mutate.But then too viruses causing it must be a rare case compared to other factors isnt it???

not rare....its common
tobacco is the leading cause....in oral cancer HPV is 2nd or 3rd cause(dont remember).......n viruses cause a number of different neoplasias....
