Lal Masjid’s expansionism, militant links alarms agencies

Acha... And how about the gangs of Rawalpindi? Last time i checked Hatora gang are all Punjabi, local lifora types. How do you think the spare parts market in babbu Bazzar gets a nice regular supply of Mehran bumpers for rs. 500 a pop? Are you telling me that the Afghan's living in H11 which by the way is now one of the most sensitive sites in Islamabad, steal cars along the Peshawar road expressway and somehow elude the 8/9 check posts along routes form Peshawar road via choor bazzar into West-ridge and into Rawalpindi city, or how about the check post from H11 Police lines near NESCOM Hospital to the check post near G9 moar?

No brother, this is not some Afghan refugees doing the crime but your own locals. You think local badmash allow people to work their territory without bakshsheesh? Get real!

Coming back to the subject of crime, local crime including petty larceny, drink and drug peddling and solicitation tends to come from Lal Kurti, and last I checked there are no Afghans living in Lal Kurti.

Dude the crimes you are talking about are rather harmless. The local criminals are only good for jua and drugs. Car jacking is ran exclusively by Afghans/FATA based criminals. And H-11 is right next to I-10, which is an Afghan ghetto.

The sectarian outfits are almost all from central Punjab. As i said, Khokhars brought them in for badmaashi. And you can't blame me for hating Malik Riaz and Taji khokhar. They victimized local people with whom i feel kinship.

And Hatora gang? Never even heard of them lol. Funny name btw.

That's why you still think it's exclusively the Afghans who conduct car jacking. Trust me, the locals of Pindi are very good in their art. Don't take my word for it, park your car near baqra mandi in Lalazar in the evening or ride a bike down sixth road at night when lite traffic is around... The guy who mugs you won't be Aghan. This I can promise you !

That's the point bro. Mugging is nothing compared to extortion calls and getting grenades lobbed at your home. Like last year these Afghans lobbed a grenade into Savour foods' owner's house in DHA 1 of all the places. The local gangsters are petty when it comes to their reach. You can always avoid those rough neighbourhoods.

Brother that wasn't afghans.... Don't believe what you read or someone tells you from hearsay. P.S let me just say for the record I am not a Afghan sympathizer, far from it. But credit where credit is due and the local mohajir camp residents get more credit then their worth.

Yara, trust you me, it's not the Afghans (I'm no fan of them) involved in carjackings...... mostly it's the locals....... pindi wala have business contacts all over Pakistan for spares..... trust you me! :D

Izzat mein rehany do, khw-m-khwa sabb pindo walon' kee izzat bhee mitti mein' mill jaye ge .... :p:

Kiddo, stop reading too much of tabloid news. I see that you're a sensitive soul, what you need to do is to go out more and see the ground realities, feel them, talk to all the stakeholders (even the criminal types) and then, after many many years, make opinions and generalize if you wish.

Man grab a newspaper, and every single day you hear about "extortion, Afghanistan number". Now don't tell me the locals are using Afghan sims to harass the business community. When I talk about such crimes, I think of my country not my personal self. Businessmen and entrepreneurs are key to the economy.

I also fear for my ethnic brethrens' lives in rawalpindi rural, a lot of whom are shiites. My fears are not unfounded.

PS: And it's probably the safety of Australia that I get alarmed and shocked at such news, but hey, I don't remember the things being this bad back in the good old days of early 2000s.

I never said the influx of people coming from Tribal areas are to be blamed for everything, Twin cities, specially Pindi had its fair share of street crime and drugs - I personally met few 16-17 yrs old kids who were into bike snatching and mobile snatching just for the sake of extra pocket money, but then I have met some local druggies running their business around the suburbs of Bani Gala -
but that is not the issue, because as you have been saying all along, street crime, kidnapping had been there - issue is this money is now being laundered into the funding of madrsas -

if its the one in f-7 you are talking about then you are spot on - back in 2012 we setted up their Diesel powered generator, and everytime we went to fix up that generator( 3-4 times a month) - the meal was free :D , eat all you can
don't know what happened to that restaurant - it used to be packed with safaid chamhri :p

Yara, what about the Kabuli one in front of Jinnah Super? Haven't been there in ages.......... I mean seriously, can't go to ISB at the moment as I'm pinned down with responsibilities.....

On a similar culinary note ...... Charsi in Peshawar is no more the same either........ I miss this old days........ 90's were the best...........

I remember the day he set his shop. Back then, he had four wooden chairs and two small tables............ it used to be my most favorite place to eat-out........ :D

The best place in Islamabad by far is Chaye Khana.

There is just something about the very air and water of this country....

We do digress, that is in our genes. It maybe a weakness for some, however, for me it is a source of our strength, as in face of harsh realities, we tend to weather extremely difficult odds with chatt-patti baatein and our shared love of food! :D

We started off with Lal Masjid and Mullah Burqa and ended up discussing Kabuli restaurant and Charsi Tikka - No wonder we are in this state, can't focus on one thing :(

Don't forget the FOOD! :p:
