It is very very unlikely in my opinion that any "ragtag" group (i.e. non-state actors) would posses anything in their arsenal able to pose an existential threat to the ICG vessels like TOWs and such. As for RPGs, the enemy would have to get very close to the vessel to fire such a weapon and that would bring them into the range of the vessel's main weapons who would rip them to shreds.

The ICG vessels are appropriately armed for what they are meant to do mate. If there is a heightened threat assessment the ICG can always call in their big brother (the IN) but this would be an exceptional situation and not at all common.

Sir the purpose raising my point was that recently Hezbollah acquired longer ranged RPG 29 and ISIS TOW 71 missiles from Iraqi reserves, and I don't think the terrorists from our Neighborhood will have much difficulty in procuring them as US recently conveyed that Afghan army had lost access to some large amounts of machine guns, RPGs and some TOWs.
At least the large vessels of ICG and OPVs of Navy which are sure to be deployed in pirate areas should have some kind of CIWS, I mean not necessarily a Phlanx or Khastan but let's give chance to our Indian companies to produce something similar.

Knowing L&T, I wouldnt be surprised. Anyone who has seen their work in recent metro, airport, skyscraper, ports, etc. projects will know their management is on point, even under Indian conditions.

Unrelated, but TATA-DRDO Kestral project was showcased well ahead of schedule.

Knowing L&T, their ambition is to eventually produce full blown destroyers for IN.

TATA Kestral, the representative in the defence expo said TATA in collaboration with VRDE-DRDO brought about Kestral from drawing board to a working prototype in little over a year. And it was done a head of schedule. They also showcased LAMV at the same expo with help from supacat. This PPP style of implementing things should be looked into for sure.

Not yet. Abhay was a tech demo, everything developed there will be funneled into the FICV program. So it's not a waste.

By reference to Sudanese arms smuggling, I was trying to make a point that eventually our OPVs will patrol the pirate affected zones of Arabian Sea, where not only pirates but terrorists can appear. Yemen is home to Al Quada and Somalia is also well known. I meant that if Sudanese terrorists can have access to SAMs, then why cannot terrorists of our Neighborhood which have good access to weapons try to breech the security once again from sea. I mean getting a recoilless gun or Tow missiles or RPG-29 will not at all be difficult for them. And a CIWS will protect a light frigate sized patrol craft at any cost.
I am no expert and stand to be corrected.

Coast Guard is not navy if the threat perception increases they can always call in IN & arming the Coast Guard so heavily will be waste of money
