Kuwait revokes citizenship of prominent Muslim cleric for his support to Gaza

The Kuwaiti government always stands for the oppressed. Nabeel al-Awadhi supports terrorism in Syria and Iraq.

Nabeel isn't a native Kuwaiti, he's a Palestinian immigrant who was given the Kuwaiti nationality in 1999. He's not stateless, Qatar naturalized Nabeel in 2008
if he is a supporter of isis and fsa then he is a terrorism supporter

Well, If they have proof that he is involved in criminal or terrorist activities, fine. But why don't they follow standard legal procedure and arrest them? Why keep it (the proof/charges) hidden? can anyone from Kuwait clear this up?

Many people don't get it, It was the Palestine who supported Iraq to invade, destroyed Kuwait and even killed a Royal Family yet until now people of Kuwait hated Palestinian.

Kuwait Expels Thousands of Palestinians :: Middle East Quarterly

Palestinians didn't invade Iraq. The people who supported who interfered in regional affairs are the same PA the Arab world supports today. I disagreed with them in many ways, I support Islamic movements in Palestine and youth movements. Palestinians want Marwan Barghouti to lead them. Problem is Israel/PA don't want that. Too much corruption in PA, all they care for is power even while our land is being taken.

What happens next, without citizenship, will all his assets will be freezed?
With no citizenship(passport) where can he go? Will he have to seek refuge status in some country.
Finally how does it help kuwait by taking away citizenship, he can always express his views from outside the Kuwait.
It would gain him more support, if he is able to play with media.

Not much Ummah here is it ?

Wonder what would be the reaction if a non Muslim nation had done the same to a cleric like this .

The Kuwaiti cabinet decided on Monday to revoke the citizenship of a prominent Islamic cleric along with nine other Kuwaitis, citing "security reasons".
Al-Resalah newspaper reported that this decision was apparently taken over their public statement in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In its weekly meeting led by Prime Minister Sabbah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabbah, the cabinet decided to revoke the citizenship of Dr Nabil Al-Awadi based on article 13 of the Kuwaiti citizenship law.

In his first public response to the decision, Awadi, who is reportedly close to the Muslim Brotherhood, said via Twitter: "I will remain faithful to my country Kuwait... and loyal to his Highness my Prince... and loving and advising to the people of Kuwait, my family... and I pray for Allah to protect Kuwait and its people from all evil."

Gulf authorities routinely harass Islamic clerics due to their political stances, especially their stance on Palestine, which is a popular cause.

On 22 July, the Kuwaiti cabinet revoked the citizenship of Ahmed Jaber Kadhim Al-Shammari, owner of Al-Youm satellite channel and Al-Alam Al-Yaoum newspaper for reasons of "public interest" and that of former opposition MP Abdullah Al-Barghash, claiming he acquired his citizenship "through fraud".

Human Rights Watch denounced these actions as a "crackdown on people seeking reform". The organisation's MENA head Joe Stork added that, "No government has the right to strip away its people's citizenship simply because it disapproves of them, their opinions, or their actions."

The government in Kuwait is reportedly investigating an alleged plot to overthrow the ruling system, further fuelling the crackdown.

A new low for gulf monarchs. Btw lets not bash our arab brothers for their corrupt rulers. Such dacoit regimes doesn't necessarily represent their people at large.
