Salahadin, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, (Krp.org)- President Masoud Barzani held a meeting today with the representatives of the political parties across the Kurdistan Region. During the meeting, President Barzani and the attendees discussed several salient issues including the upcoming parliamentary elections, the current political and economic situations and the issue of the independence referendum.

The President, along with the representatives of the political parties and slates decided that the date for the independence referendum shall be Monday, September 25, 2017. It will be on that day when the people of the Kurdistan Region, as well as those living in the disputed areas, will cast their votes on whether they accept independence for the Kurdistan.

The political parties also agreed to resolve some of the outstanding political and economic issues prior to the date of the referendum. They also agreed to establish a special council for the referendum which will be supervised by President Barzani and that council will be tasked to form a number of teams to supervise the details of the referendum.

Before that happens, saudi arabia will divided in 10 pieces with the oppressed shi'ites given their own land along the other gazillion tribes in your desert. whilst at it, all those camels will also be given their own freedom from saudi raping, kissing oppression:

Be a role model, let the Arab Shia population get their own independent country in Eastern Arabia. :)

So this is non-binding right? If the Iraqis decide to not recognise the results will there be a civil war?

The Iraqi Kurds definitely deserve their own state, but in the midst of all this chaos they should've waited until ISIS and the Syrian conflict were resolved first. If they do succeed with this, it will be hard to imagine how they would survive completely surrounded by hostile neighbours.

Nobody want them in Iraq they are welcome to leave

Which they won't.

They wan't to leave with areas not part of KRG which Iraq won't allow, and we all know the ISF/PMU are militarily superior to the KRG, soon they might flood Kerkuk and some other area's with troops.

Then there's neighbors, Iran and Turkey don't want to see an independent Kurdistan.

US policy is to keep Iraq in its current state, they don't want to see a division.

Agree.
Hmmmm.......if this goes ahead it will be interesting to see Iraq's government and western powers reaction

Below some indications why this news is worthless and for nothing but internal consumption. A referendum not recognized by anybody but the KRG is worthless. They always try to disobey Baghdad to be independent yet end up asking Baghdad for favors. What they're looking for is for a strong state, preferably the US to pave them the way to independence which simply won't happen as their region holds less importance than Iraq proper or other neighbors who are also against this state. We are stuck with them.

U.S. concerned Iraqi Kurdish referendum will distract from war - State Dept.

Wasnt this the plan from the begining? To destroy Iraq and Syria and divide the countries in mini-states for the shake of Israel?
